20 weeks pregnant feel like I'm going to faint

I'm nearly 21 weeks pregnant and for the last couple weeks I keep feeling like I'm going to faint all the time. It's happen more and more as the days go by. I could just be going about my day as normal then all of sudden my head goes I go hot my visions starts blurring and I just basically feel like I'm going to collapse any minute. I don't have to be on my feet for long periods of time or standing up too quickly for it to happen. Just wondered if anyone else experienced this. Tried talking to doctors/ midwife about it and they just said it was normal however that's not really helpful as it's not a nice thing to experience all the time especially as I have a 2 year old and don't want to actually faint if I'm on my own with him.

Hey @livvvv Random question but could it be low blood pressure? I’ve been like this with both pregnancies and blood pressure got really really low in my first pregnancy. Only thing that helped was drinking ridiculous amounts of fluids, which I’m very consciously doing this time around. It is harder with a toddler though so feel your pain 🙈 Just wondered if it could be a factor for you too x

Well I had a scan the other day and they checked my blood pressure and said it was low but that it's normal and not to worry. I never had this with my first, I'm constantly drinking water and sat with a cup of ice all day 😂 but nothing seems to be helping if anything it keeps happening more. I'm sure it probably isn't too much of a concern but there definitely nothing fun about being out in public and having to crouch on floor cause you feel like your going to pass out 😂 x

I sympathise! Probably is low blood pressure, at least in part if you measured low. The doctors cannot do a lot about it so are fairly flippant about it. Not fun though as I know I got really dizzy. Even worse when my iron levels dipped. I seriously drink a full litre of water the moment I wake up now just to pre-empt it. Never quite feels enough but I feel the difference when I don’t. Hope you feel better soon x

Sounds like an iron deficiency? Combined with low blood pressure maybe? Can you give your midwife a text and let her know and she should be able to help

Everyone even says “but low blood pressure is healthy. Better than high”. And I’ve always been like “yes I’m glad I’m not getting pre-eclampsia anytime soon but would like to not constantly feel I’m on the verge of passing out” 😂 😂

Low blood pressure. Nothing that can be done except having the baby, according to my GP!

livvvv · 08/03/2020 16:50

Yeah it could be. I haven't had my iron levels checked in a while so going to give my midwife a ring and see if she can check them just to be on the safe side. Atleast then I could tar iron tablets or something to help but don't want to put anything into my body until I know for sure. I'll be glad when this pregnancy is over my body seems to hate it 😂 thanks for the advice anyway.

@livvv
This happened to me in first trimester twice I actually had 2 very quickly lay on the floor at home and elevate my legs to prevent fainting the cold floor really helped I lifted my top up so my bare back was on the cold floor closed my eyes and big deep breaths .. it was low iron / anemia so can you get checked for these ?
