homebirth after v quick v big 2nd baby: will I get resistance?

I'm pregnant for the 3rd time. Ist baby born vaginally at 37 weeks in hospital weighing 7lb3 and took 18 hours to arrive. 2nd baby born at 42 weeks weighing 11lb3 after 90 mins at home (not planned to be at home). I had kind of wanted a homebirth anyway, both times, but husband wasn't keen. Having had a good experience last time (and that was on my own), it seems to make sense to me to plan on a homebirth this time (particularly in case it happens quickly again). But can anyone tell me whether I'm likely to get resistance because of the size of the second baby?

unlikely , as you clearly delivered without any assistance..so you are built to birth bigger babies... your first was a good size despite being 3 weeks early..so you obviously grow big babies
if you and / or your DH are tall and / or well built you can be a lot more likely to have bigger babies, and women tend to birth the size of babies they can birth

the homebirth website is an excellent resource as is AIMS if you get resistance to your legal right to give birth at home !

For advice speak to midwives at Holistic Birthing Centre, Northwich 01606 871770. Even if you're nowhere near, they are a great source of advice and support

should be ok as you gave birth fine before to a big baby but ask your midwife - especially if the next birth will also be quick and will be ahome birth in anycase.

hi
bit late, but just wanted to give some encouragement. My first baby was 11lbs 3oz as well -hb transfer. I had my second at home. Bit of resistance, wanted me to see consultant- who really had no problem with hb and do a late scan - which i really shouldn't have agreed to as they aren't accurate. the birth was fine. baby was 'only' 9lbs 10oz and I'm pleased did it at home.

if your 2nd was that quick it might be a moot point anyway, My first was 2 hours and I planned a home birth for no 2, but he was so quick that it wouldn't have matter what I had planned.
