Hi, I am new to this, just been reading other peoples stories and couldn't really find anything that relates to my situation though. August 9th I found out that I am?/was? pregnant. I had a positive HPT amd a urine test at the dr's. Anyways a couple of days later, I started light bleeding. I thought I had just caught the pregnancy early and that it was a chemical pregnancy that was ending early. Anyways, for the past three and a half weeks, I have had light brown blood, not alot but usually later on in the day. I have an ultasound booked for tomorrow. My Dr thinks it is a "threatened abortion" I have been feeling tired and my breasts have been sore and tingly, but haven't felt sick or anything. It is really stressing me out. Has anyone ever had something similar happen to them, with a positive outcome in the end. My dr says that is not normal to bleed during the first stage of pregnancy. I had a miscarriage last year, with that one I had bad cramps and bright red blood. This is different.

It's not normal but it is quite common. I have a friend who had very heavy bleeds throughout her pregnancy and was scanned several times assuming she was losing the baby. He is now 9 months. I had light bleeding and very bad cramping at around 5/6 weeks - again, I now have a healthy 9 month old.

I hope you get some positive news although you may find that they can't see a lot on an ultrasound at this stage and you might have to go back in a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed for you.

I bled practically all the way through my first trimester with ds3. He was born early ( for a different reason) but perfectly healthy.

woo12woo, I have just had a miscarriage (2 weeks ago) at 9 and a half weeks (pregnant). I had very light bleeding only noticeable on loo roll paper after going to the toilet and no cramps or any other sign to suggest anything was wrong. I was not worried, but my sister was, so I went to the docs after calling Nhs direct who told me not to worry etc. Doc booked me in for a scan 4 days later, but the next day the bleeding was slightly heavier and more frequent. I went to A & E that night and had a scan early the next morning. Unfortunately our baby had died at 5 and a half weeks. I was not worried as I have a friend who has bled all the way through her first trimester (she's now well into her 2nd and all is well), and I have got a beautiful 16 month old son, so I presumed that all was well and miscarriage would never happen to me as I am fairly physically fit and quite robust. I would go to your local A & E dept straight away and ask for a scan. I'm not trying to scare you but I wish I had taken more notice of what was happening to me. I am sure everything will be fine with you as lots of women have spotting throughout their pregnancies, but for your own piece of mind, best to get it checked out then you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. Lots of luck. x

woo12woo, sorry just read your msg again and you are having a scan tomorrow! Sure all will be well with you. Fingers crossed.

woo12woo · 07/09/2007 02:57

Hi, thanks for all the positive feedback, I am a bit nervous for this scan tomorrow, as when I had one last year, they could not see anything. I find this not knowing if you are pregnant or not, very stressful. I guess what is meant to be will be and if it is not, well hey, at least I know that I can get pregnant and can try again!

Good luck woo12woo, lets us know how you get on

I bled during both my pregnancys in the early stages, due to cervical errouctions (sp?), which are common due to hormone changes. It was never very heavy and was brown rather than bright red.
Good Luck

Lisa, I suspect that cervical erosions was what I had with ds3. Did they actually look at your cervix? The consultant didn't want to look at mine!

lisad123 · 07/09/2007 19:56

yes its the only way to say if you have them or not. I had them before i feel pregnant but then feel pregnant, they disappearred after i had dd. However, they reappearred during my current pregnancy. They arent really a problem unless like me they are unable to get a good smear, which then means removing a piece of cervic to test now that is not fun

well, I had a scan this morning, the guy who did it did not tell me ANYTHING,shock he asked me if I had any pain with the bleeding. I asked him if he could see anything and he said the radiologist would talk to me, then he went to talk to him and said that my doctor would call me. Anyways, my dr's office called me half hour later and said to come in this afternoon, I am freaking out, I just hope I don't have something wrong with me?!!?? I tried to look at the pictures of the ultasound but couldn't tell what anything was. I have a feeling there was nothing there and that my doctor is going to tell me that I had a miscarriage. I don't know why they could not tell me that over the phone though and could not tell me anything after the scan guess I'll find out this afternoon hmm..........anyways, keeping my fingers crossed.

Hugs

Woo12woo, I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you! I do know that techs usually are not allowed to discuss the results. In my case I had a scan and she too didn't look thrilled. I did talk to the doctor right there who told me that they didn't see a heartbeat and it would mean that I would probably mc.

Deep breaths... go in and just hear what they have to say. BUT make sure you don't leave until you have ALL your questions answered! They owe it to you.

Good luck! Remember - news might not be the greatest but doesn't mean it is all over! Hang in there

XOXO

Well, not pregnant, to make a long story short ,I saw my dr. he said was worried because one of my ovaries is enlarged, ended up at the hospital, they did my blood work,it is at 32hcg, so I went for another ultrasound this morning, I had a missed abortion(the bleeding) and I have to have another hcg test next week and another scan in 3-4 weeks to see iff my ovary is smaller. Oh well at least I know. I only came off B/C pill in June, so I think I am pretty fertile. Gonna wait a few months I think and get my cycle on track first. I am okay, the enlarged ovary part is freaking me out a bit though. Guess I just have to wait and see!!
