Accuracy of the antenatal growth chart?

I've reached 28 weeks and had my bump measured today by my midwife which measured bang on 28 week, so all good.

However does anyone else find the antenatal growth chart in your maternity notes slightly worrying? It seems crazy to me that even though I'm measuring exactly what I should measure for 28 weeks, that's just under the 90th centile for me Confused if I continue to measure what I should measure, I'm on track for approx 9.5lb baby if I deliver around 40 weeks?!

I'm of a healthy BMI, my first baby was 8lb 5oz at 41 weeks so not massive but not small either.

If I was measuring bigger then it would make sense to me, but I'm just so confused as to why I'm predicted an over 9lb baby at 40 weeks if I continue to measure what most women are expected to measure each week?

Is anyone else confused by theres or am I just not getting it?! Or if you've been predicted a huge baby on the growth chart and had an average sized baby I'd be interested to hear!

It's complete nonsense. My twins were apparently going to be 6lbs and 6lbs8. They came out 6lbs and 4lbs6.

The bump measurements aren't really accurate. A scan is much better.

In my pregnancies the bump measurements were massively inaccurate and the growth scans were only slightly inaccurate!

I'm measuring pretty much the same size as week I am and this is around 95th Percentile (currently 35 weeks) midwife said they're not massively accurate and not to be concerned so don't think they even believe the estimations.

My friends mum is a midwife and she said that the bump measurements aren't massively valid they just help them identify possibly small or overly big measuring bumps and Th en you can go for a scan to just check everything is fine. I was measuring 2 weeks ahead wi tv my daughter so got sent with a scan and they said it was or likely because I'm petite she was laying with her bum sticking right out making my bump a lot bigger, and she came out an average 7 pounds 11 so I thinknits just a way of roughly gauging how things are going Smile
