Live on a farm and had a minor accident this morning involving a blasted goose. I’ve twisted my tummy and had to jump over a fence. Now I am super worried as I have mild shooting pains and constantly checking I going to bleed... will my baby ok?

Hi there, I'm sure this early on it's really quite hard to do any harm, the baby must be size of a peppercorn. I wouldn't worry and hopefully the pain will stop soon.

I expect you'll be fine. During first trimester your ligaments are super loose and can be strained very easily. I expect this is what's happened.

I fainted at 15 weeks due to low blood pressure (high BP meds were too strong) the docs checked me over but weren't even going to check on baby as they weren't worried, he was nicely protected in my pelvis still.

Thank you both so much for reassuring me! I know I shouldn’t be I read so much online but I can’t help it and have read some really sad things. I just hope you are both right! Smile Thanks again xx

OP I coached netball when I was pg and got a netball straight into my stomach at about the same point as you - it's scary!! But honestly what you've likely done is hurt a ligament - the baby is seriously seriously protected it likely didnt even feel it

Jenda · 06/03/2020 09:05

Poor you. as PP said, small injuries can be painful because your ligaments are so stretchy but it's very unlikely to have caused any harm. I bloody hate Geese and I shall add this to my list of reasons why 😆

LouisaPipSqueak · 06/03/2020 09:19

@jenda they are super viscous, my husband was dealing with him and I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time!
I really hope you’re all right. Booked a reassurance scan for Wednesday so just to hold out till then that there is still a heartbeat! 💓

Wishing you well for the scan. I fell on my bump out of the back door and onto the patio at about 6 months pg. They are very well cushioned! (She is 10 now!)

Amazing!! Maybe not as fragile as I thought then! Great news! Thank you all

Oh I also tripped up on a loose paving slab and fell on my front when I was 36 weeks. I monitored for movement but absolutely everything was fine.

Thanks for all the reassurance - first pregnancy and absolutely no need to worry but I just can’t help it. I’m terrified constantly of going for scans and being told there is no heartbeat... I wish we could have scans every week!
