Basically I plan on breastfeeding. However, this doesn't always go as planned. And if it doesn't I want to top up with formula.

My question was (because I'm thinking of buying ready made cartons instead of powder formula)

Can I sterilise the bottles, then open the carton and fill each of the bottles with formula then stick them in the fridge until we need them?

She said no because once the carton is open its no longer sterile.

How do you feed a baby without opening a carton or opening a sterile bottle to put formula in it?

The official answer to this is no.

That said if you buy a big carton you can open it and keep it in the fridge 24hours...

So I would do what you suggest.

Why are you making life far more complicated than you need to. Sterilise the bottles- pour in ready made milk when you want to use it.

What @arnoldbee said.

If you are planning on using ready made formula, all you need to do is have a sterile bottle & pour it in at the time you need! Absolutely no need to pre-pour it.. 🤷🏼‍♀️ That’s the ease & why you are paying more for the pre-made!
