Large abdomen on ultrasound

Hi all
I am new to this, but have recently had my 28 week scan and it showed bub has a very large abdomen, but tiny legs and head. I do not have GD. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this?? I am a little concerned. My now 4 year old was born at 30 weeks due to growth restriction caused by me having HELLP syndrome.

My docs say they are not concerned but I still don't understand why bub is out of proportion. Also the entire overall percentile has dropped from 79th at the 24 week scan to 52nd at the 28 weeks scan. But legs are in the 21st percentile and head only in the 39th... tummy is in the 91st though.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and knows what the cause was????
Thanks ladies!

I had very similar measurements and had the test for GD which was negative. Basically my DD just turned out to have quite a long back/torso which gave her a large measurement when curled up. All her other measurements were around 30/40th centile. I was under consultant care for an underlying condition and they weren't worried at all. When DD was born she was also quite a good weight - nearly 7lb despite being 4 weeks early! So your bub might just be the same. You will probably get growth scans just to keep an eye on things.

Also dropping from 78-59th isn't much of a drop and can be caused by slightly inaccurate measurements, different machines etc. They will keep a close eye on you anyway - try to only worry if the doctors start to worry. Easier said than done though I know!

Thanks for your response bananallamas! Hubby keeps telling me the same, that if the doctors are not worried enough to move up the next scan then I should relax. Next scan is for 32 weeks. It is tough when my first pregnancy went so badly so quickly and my little one struggled in NICU for 12 weeks. I think I am scarred from that experience!
So your little girl was well and looked normal at birth? Despite the large abdomen measurements?
