Hiya guys, me again, Iv just done two laps up and down the stairs, putting my son back in bed as he wont stay there!!! , and it got me wondering (as I sat out of breath at the bottom of the stairs) if its ok to run when your pregnant? Iv had mixed answers about this. Im 7 and a half weeks pg.

I have recently discussed this with my midwife as I was intending to carry on running as far into pregnancy as possible. I usually run 5k 2 or 3 times a week. The advice for me was...

Don't do any exercise that you are not used to (including upping your speed or distance).
Don't get out of breath (but I think puffing on stairs is OK)!
Don't run when your bump feels uncomfortable.
Don't run if you have any pain anywhere - cramps, ligaments etc.
Don't run beyond 4 months - walk instead.

And no contact sports or horse riding. Cycling is OK if you don't fall off.

Ok, so Im not likely to shake the baby out or anything when Im running then? I know it sounds mad, but thats what it feels like Im doing.

I do know what you mean! But a quick jog round the garden or run up the stairs is fine.

I'd avoid trampolining though.

I know, its a shame though, I LOVE those huge trampolines, and, being a child at heart, will miss playing on my cousins!
