Hi, i would like to ask whether anyone has the same experiences.
I am a first time mommy. Based on my last menstrual cycle, the dr calculated i should be on 8 week of pregnancy. But when we do the scan, i actually only 6week. May i know if its abnormal?
The dr just told me come back for another scan after 2 weeks.
Im quite nervous and stress out as this is my first time pregnant.

Hi @Kel2510 I don't have experience of this myself but didn't want to read and run. I have read others who have had similar and have caught up by the next scan, esp if you ovulated later and dates are out slightly so fingers crossed for you

Hey I had the same thing I was suppose to be 8 weeks but when I had a early scan I was 6 weeks they didnt even ask me to come back for another scan but all is normal and I am 18 weeks now. Shouldn't be anything to worry about do you have irregular periods? I used to have irregular periods so midwife said I most probably just ovulated late in the cycle x

Thanks Quiffy and Nissha for the info.
My period was irregular only past 5 months due to my wedding and work stress, wonder if because of this issue. Anyway its a relief to hear from you all experiences, thank u. I was kind of worried and Dr didnt mention anything much just told me its too small to say anything. Hopfully everything will be alright.

Hi, I had exactly the same thing. I went for an early scan thinking i was 7 weeks when i was actually only 5. They told me to come back in 2 weeks or wait for my 12 week scan. I'm now 16 weeks. It all depends on the length of your cycle.

FireflyGirl · 05/03/2020 10:35

Did they say whether they could see the heartbeat?

It's possible for your dates to be out, and their measurements to be wrong - at this stage you're talking about a difference of a couple of millimetres.

Fingers crossed for you at the re-scan.

sel2223 · 05/03/2020 10:51

Did you see/hear a heartbeat?

I had an early scan at what should have been 7+5 by LMP but baby only measured 6+1 (but had a strong heartbeat).
2 weeks later I had the follow up scan and baby had grown proportionately and measured 8+2

By the time I had my dating scan, baby had caught up by a week.

It's not uncommon at very early scans as baby is so teeny, it's hard to measure accurately. Good luck for your follow up scan

Kel2510 · 05/03/2020 11:55

Thank you all for your information
@Sel2223, I totally forgot to ask about the heart beat and my midwife did not mention about it alsoHmm
I feel relieved after hearing from you all.
Hopefully, finger cross everything will be good on my next scanning
I am actually very excited when I found out I am pregnant.

When did you get a positive pregnancy test?

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 05/03/2020 15:32

Yes it's completely normal. LMP can be very inaccurate.

My Dr calculated me to be 10 days ahead of what I actually was, because they based my cycle on a 28 day cycle, even though I have 40 day cycles - luckily I used ovulation tests so I knew exactly when I ovulated and when it came to the dating scan I was correct.

Update on my appointment. It was devastated for me. My baby was growing to week 8 now but still no heart beat. Dr told me to prepare for the worst scenario. Mostlikely it will be miscarriage. They asked me to come back next week. Will there be a chance of my baby survive. Its really hard for me to accept that there is no baby heart beat while it still growing
