GBS/ Coronavirus pregnancy worry

I’m 32 weeks pregnant and worried about hospitals being short staffed etc when I’m due. I also have group b strep and need antibiotics via drip during labour to protect my baby so home birth isn’t an option however the antibiotics will make his immune system more vulnerable so I’m worried he will be more susceptible to the coronavirus in his first few months even with children under 9 being least affected

I understand your worries. I am 26 weeks and so still far enough away from delivery but worried NHS will be under staffed and not able to support us as they would usually.

Only thing we can do is take it day by day and assume the NHS will be able to cope with the extra demand. Try not to worry about your little one, you’ll just need to take same precautions and be extra vigilant x

Are you planning on breastfeeding? That would be the best way to boost baby’s immune system.

Be careful with visitors and encourage handwashing.
