Work trousers

Hi everyone 😊

I'm starting a new role soon and need a couple of good pairs of work style trousers (I work in eduction). I am nearly 14 weeks pregnant and the trousers I wore prior to pregnancy are too tight and restrictive now... but still feel it's probs to early to get maternity trousers. I'm unsure what to do... maybe I should just get loose fitting ones and perhaps a size up, but feels like I waste if I'll only be wearing them for a month or so before I have to go into maternity!

I know this is a boring problem/ question but any advice?? 😅

I brought some maternity over the bump ones quite early on and they were ok to wear while bump was small and still just about wearing them now (35 weeks) I got mine from ASOS but it did take ages for me to find some as I'm only 5ft2 this made it more difficult.

Jojomamanbebe used to do great maternity work trousers With stretchy panels that did me from a about 14 weeks to when I finished work at 36 weeks.

Thank you will have a look at both - just worried about over the bump being too baggy at the moment.... but every thing I've read about under the bump says they are uncomfortable!

I'm also 5ft2 so I know the struggle 😅

I bought some nice ones from New Look, they had stretchy material that went over the bump x

I've got Asda over bump trousers and I've had to tuck them into my bra, I'm quite short and found normal trousers too tight on the waist, even sizing up, but the maternity trousers too big.

Got mine from New Look too! They had the big piece of material to cover my bump

DaisyF1986 · 04/03/2020 19:13

I second New Look! About the only place you can go and try them on in store nowadays too.

Nelbert19 · 04/03/2020 19:46

I’ve just got some Next over the bump mat trousers and I love them! So comfy, I may never wear normal trousers again!

(I’m 5’8” and usually size 12)

If you get over bump ones, you could wear a tight stretchy vest top over the top to sort of hold them in/up. Reduce the possible extra material/baggyness? Just a thought! I am living in H&M leggings as smart longer tops. As I have found nothing else comfy enough to sit at my desk in!

Miltonj · 04/03/2020 21:30

That's a good idea @flissity thank you! Probs won't get away with leggings as new role, perhaps once I've got my feet under the table haha

M and s do work style trousers but they are stretchy with an elasticated waist, no zips or buttons etc. Wore my usual size right up until I went on maternity.
