My Labour

Hello,

I just wanted some advice because when I was in labour with my son I had to have a last minute epidural due to the pain that I was in. After I had my epidural I noticed that it had only blocked one side of my body, is this due to an epidural being done incorrectly? I then had to go into theatre to have forceps and lost 2.4pints of blood and tore completely. It was a very traumatic birth. Ever since then my back has never been the same and its been about 9 months and I cant even stand up for more then 20 minutes. It has now effected my work and limited the options into what job I can now get.

I just need some advice if people have had a similar problem like me. I am in pain with my back all the time and I've only just started to really take care of myself as being a mum I always have put my sons health first, but now the pain is effecting everything even when i'm holding my son I cannot do it for a very long time which makes me sad.

x

also I wanted to add that when I did go to theatre I had to have a full spinal block in which they had to prick test me multiple times because it took a while for them to get the pain completely blocked.

So sorry to hear this awful experience. Did you have back problems before the birth?

You need to get medical advice on this there may be a side effect of the epidural my SIL had an air bubble from hers

It def shouldn't be like this with no pre-existing conditions - not being able to stand for me than 20 mins and always being in pain isn't right. I would see GP
to ask for an orthopaedic referral to try and work our what's happened x
