Sex/Final Trimester/Birth - worry

So this is a little sensitive...

Due first baby literally any day now. Naturally I’m big and uncomfortable and very ready for baby to make its appearance!

Sex had been suggested by a few people so me and DF went for it. Haven’t done it much throughout later pregnancy as it’s just awkward and we’ve found ‘other ways’. Advice was orgasm and sperm was a sweet spot so that’s what we went for.

What I’m worried about is that I now feel that stretched/burny sensation around my vagina, if you know what I mean. My DF isn’t massive and certainly doesn’t have the girth of a babies head! It wasn’t a lack of lubricant... plenty of that going on.

So obviously I’m now having a massive panic about birth and tearing. I’ve read that hormones allow the skin to stretch ... but does it really? Especially if sex has become uncomfortable? It all feels a bit swollen down there anyway (which I know is normal) but that probably hasn’t helped and I’m sure that won’t disappear before the birth?

Classic FTM anxiety I am sure ... help?

I just have to comment on the unfortunate fact that mumsnet has automatically corrected what I can only assume was meant darling fiancé to father 😫😂

Sorry complete immaturity aside, are you sure you don’t have thrush? I get a burny sensation for hours after sex when I have thrush as diagnosed by a swab, even when I haven’t got the typical white discharge and itchiness etc.

As PP have said - thrush could be to blame. I developed super sore skin down there about 3 days before I went into labour, the hormones can affect your skin in all kinds of ways. FWIW it went away immediately after my waters broke!

That’s hilarious- definitely my fiancé and not my father!!! 🙈

Definitely not thrush. It’s something I have had many times before pregnancy and is usually related to us not having had sex for a little while, different position, lack of lubrication etc. I just always assumed I was a little too ‘tight’ or something. It’s never bothered me enough not to have sex, as in it’s not painful, just a little uncomfortable. Although I’ve just been to the loo and it is still a bit sore when I wiped. I think I’m more worried about the effects a (95th centile) head will have on it as I’m terrified of tearing!

Look up perineal massage - I was advised to do it with my first as it helps to loosen and relax the muscles a bit.

I ended up with an EMCS (not related to my vice like fanny I promise!) so can't personally vouch for it but I have heard others have success with it.
