How do scans get booked?

Hi everyone,

I had my booking in appointment today and my midwife was very lovely and answered all of my questions. We talked about getting a scan booked in soon as there is a little uncertainty around when conception happened. However, I completely forgot to ask about how a scan gets booked or organised. I'll ring my doctor surgery tomorrow to ask, but I just wanted to check to see if anyone knew? Do I call someone? Will someone get in touch with me?

The midwife usually refers(mine did) you and then you get an appointment letter through the post. but I don't know if all areas are the same.

Yeah the hospital will contact you

Thanks guys! That makes sense, the midwife was using her computer during our catch-up when we were talking about the scan. So that would line up with her putting in a request to the hospital.

If you're unsure, ring the hospital's maternity ultrasound and ask rather than your GP as they likely work on different systems. 👍
