Currently 31+4 days, due 1st May and going on maternity leave at 37 weeks.
I've worked out i have 27 work days left!! (2 days annual leave included)

Anyone else counting down the days? if so what have you got planned for your leave?

Oh lord am I counting down. Finishing work April 30, due May 18. Highly over it and looking forward to not working.

What are my plans? Probably nesting and getting the baby's room ready, reading, walking my dog and naps.

How about you?

BumbleBeeFlower · 03/03/2020 12:54

My first day of ML was yesterday and it was great. Currently vegging out on the sofa watching day time tv.
Had been counting down the dates since before Christmas!

CandleFlames · 03/03/2020 12:58

I’m 33 weeks and have been on maternity since 30 weeks and I’m having a csection on 15th April. I’ve also been on sick leave since 24 weeks so basically I’ve already had 9 weeks off and it has been great. I’ve done the baby’s nursery, bought almost everything I need, finished the clothes shopping, packed my hospital bag, done some freelance work (KIT days), finished the book I was writing, binge watched 5 different series, been to a couple of family events, had an overnight spa stay and just keeping up with my hospital appointments as I’m high risk with GD. It’s been great!

ejmay90 · 03/03/2020 13:08

@auslass Not too long after me, i finish on 9th as it's the good friday on 9th so thought that would be a nice time to finish!
So am i, especially when i really dislike my job!

Same! i've got a list of things to batch cook, walk the dog, see friends and clean the house and cupboards out! hopefully i won't be too tired lol!

@BumbleBeeFlower Lucky! how long before baby is due? hopefully you get some time off to relax and watch some more daytime tv before baby makes an appearance!

@CandleFlames Oh wow you've had loads of time off already then!
You seem to have jam packed loads into those 9 weeks. I'm looking forward to getting the final few bits for my hospital bag and cleaning the house and then putting my feet up to be honest!
Not long till you meet your little one!

Im pretty much the same as @auslass

Finish 24th April due 20th May but may have an early c section, consultant will make a decision end of March.

Looking forward to doing everything as above. Abandoning the toddler at nursery and lounging round the house. Though the reality will be getting the nursery ready, manically cleaning and batch cooking- especially toddler meals!

Caspianberg · 03/03/2020 13:16

Same gestation as you. I have my last official working day this friday (3 days left). Where I live you have to begin maternity 8 weeks before due date at latest.

I have several house-related projects I need to oversee the next few weeks (some new windows, heating related stuff, kitchen remodelling quotes). Then planning on not doing much.

Have next scan in 2 days, but the prediction is maybe a bit earlier atm so it may not be as long as we think

PixieDustt · 03/03/2020 13:17

Oh the days! I remember counting down mine! I had 2 weeks to use AL. Went at 36+3 weeks and had DS 38+3.
I used to just relax on the sofa. Have a little nap and wash all the baby clothes and bedding and get the hospital bag ready 🥰

OddshoesOddsocks · 03/03/2020 13:30

I finish on 1st April and due on 23rd.

I’m nesting HARD at the moment so most of my pre baby cleaning and sorting is done already. I need to finish the bedroom, pack hospital bag etc and I was thinking today I might do some batch cooking ready to freeze.

Probably most importantly I’ve got my driving test (and potentially subsequent driving tests if I fail!) so my most important goal is to pass my test and get a car in the next 7 weeks 😱😱

Emmacb82 · 03/03/2020 13:31

I’m 28 weeks and working till 36 weeks. 11 shifts to go!! I’m a nurse and am hoping to get out of the hospital before Coronavirus properly kicks off! So looking forward to mat leave 😊

PrinnyPree · 03/03/2020 14:00

Yes! 41 more working days finish on the 7th May, due on the 23rd May. I also have a week off 6th April to break it up. Really can't wait, I'm so knackered and only at 28+3 weeks (37 years old with my first) hoping for some pleasant weather in May and sitting outside in my garden with a good book, maybe do some proper spring cleaning too _

BumbleBeeFlower · 03/03/2020 14:20

@ejmay90 I am due on the 27th so just over 3 weeks to go!
Have got quite a full week planned this week but after that, I have nothing booked in which is a relief as I am already struggling to get through a whole day without napping at some point in the afternoon.

ejmay90 · 03/03/2020 14:39

@AndddddHerewegoagain Not long then!
Haha sounds lovely, it's my first so will take advantage of the quiet house apart from my mad dog lol!
I think the batch cooking is great, even if you don't use it.

@Caspianberg Oh really that's interesting! 8 weeks seems a long time especially if your feeling good, is there any reason for this?
Least you have a while to sort those bits, then relax the last few weeks.
Good luck for your scan!

@PixieDustt Ohh good job you went at 36+3 if you had him at 38+3! Least you had some time to relax.
Yess that's what i need to do wash the baby clothes :)

PixieDustt · 03/03/2020 14:41

Yeah it was. Plan was to go at 38 but I just wanted to leave! 🤣

ejmay90 · 03/03/2020 14:44

@OddshoesOddsocks Not long for you then! I'm feeling the same with nesting, hate the house getting dirty from the dog and my other half not putting things away haha!
I've made a list of things to batch cook so will need to get all ingredients in when i'm off. Ohh wow good luck with your driving test! that will be great if you pass to get around with little one!

@Emmacb82 11!! So lucky, every day i get home i say to my OH 27 days left haha. Think he is sick of hearing it lol. Yesss definitely get out before that gets worse!

@PrinnyPree Amazing! that's good to break it up. I'm starting to become quite tired now so definitely looking forward to finishing. I also want some nice weather, want to do some garden bits before baby gets here and takes over haha!

@BumbleBeeFlower 3 weeks is not long at all! definitely put your feet up after this full week! I'm dragging my mum over when i start mat leave to help out haha!

@ejmay90 - no idea. Its a min 8 weeks before and 8 weeks after which is 'mother weeks'. After that you have up to 2 years maternity leave you can choose to take or share with father. You can decide to get paid double over 12 months or spread out over 24. ( father can't share the first 8 weeks 'mother weeks').

ejmay90 · 03/03/2020 14:51

@caspianberg Wow where are you based? that sounds great!!
