Weight Gain Very Early

I'm only 5 weeks pregnant. Usually a size 10 and prior to conceiving was probably about 4 pounds heavier than what I'm usually comfortable with. Having said that, i had no issue with my weight despite being slightly heavier.

I feel that since finding out, 10 days ago, my face/chin and my lower stomach and hips have totally ballooned. I weighed myself today and have put on 3 lb in a week.

This is my second pregnancy. Did any of you gain a lot more weight and sooner with your second?

I know that this is not a big issue in the grand scheme of things, my first born had a lot of health issues, I had a really tricky birth and had sepsis a couple of weeks after delivery, so ultimately I just hope my pregnancy goes ok and baby is healthy. However, I'm feeling really awful in myself at the moment and a bit emotional.

Hi Op congrats on your pregnancy!!

Currently pregnant with my second... and it's happened to me too! As soon as I found out I was pregnant it was like I gained 3lbs 😂

I also look a lot heavier was a healthy size 12 before finding out and now in size 14 tops because my breast have just ballooned out...

So I can completely understand where you are coming from... currently 12 weeks 1 day and just ate whatever I felt like just to get through the nausea... midwife has said going into second and third trimester eat as well as you can.

Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!! X

Thank you so much!! And thank you for replying too. I felt a bit silly posting because it really should be a non issue but it's really affected how I'm feeling.

Obviously I dont even look pregnant yet but I'm really "blobby" if that makes sense!?

The sickness hasn't crept in yet (it was around week 6-7 last time! God help me when that happens. Haha.

I'm going to make a conscious effort to eat much better.im not really doing much exercise either other than chasing a toddler.

@Shinysun don't feel silly posting 😊 I felt completely the same I was even ugly crying to my DP about how fat I looked around 7 weeks... I had to go out and buy some new clothes 😂... I spoke to my midwife as well about the rapid weight gain because in my mind I wasn't eating that much because of the nausea... she said it's absolutely fine my BMI at the beginning was healthy and she had no concerns... I would just eat whatever makes you feel better... I didn't have sickness with my first so when it started I was completely floored! You are definitely not alone... I'm beginning to get a bump now too so will have to let the cat out of the bag soon! Just try and eat as healthy as you can I think we forget sometimes that we are growing another little human in there it's ok to have a few treats when we feel like it goodness we deserve it! 😉
