Waiting for 2nd ultrasound (9 weeks pregnant)

Hi All,

Last week I went to my first scan at my fertility clinic where I had IUI. I was 7 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I was told that the baby has a heartbeat but was only measuring at 6mm which is still within range but at the bottom end of the range. I think 6mm is around 6w 1day?

They said for us to go back in two weeks which will be this Friday when I should be 9+3 to see if the baby has grown at all. But have been told we need to 'prepare ourselves' and they feel it can go 'either way' in terms of whether or not the pregnancy will continue.

Has anyone been through this and can you tell me your outcome? This wait has been awful and I've tried to stay occupied but it's on my mind every day. I miscarried last year and hate the thought of going through it again.
Thank you in advance .. x

Its a waiting game for sure. There isnt much you can do except wait - even though its so difficult to do. Trty and keep your mind active. Crosswords etc
Sending a hug ((((()))))

@Callmefordinner Thank you. I'm really trying to take my mind off it. Mainly with work. Also been doing yoga etc to try and stay relaxed. It's horrible waiting. I just desperately want a positive outcome. x

Hey

I'm in a similar position in terms of weeks though didn't have IVF.

I went for a private scan last week at 7+3 but measured 6+1. Went back today for a follow up and there is still a heartbeat but the baby has hardly grown at all. I have another scan booked but I've been told to expect the worst.

I appreciate this is not what you'd want to hear, but it's my experience. That said I asked for help, and lots of people came back with positive stories about the situation so there is always hope. Thinking of you. X

@loveacupoftea18 Thank you for your reply. Yes I think I may have commented on one of your posts. I'm sorry that has happened for you. I know it's just so so difficult. The wait is hard but also the fear of the results. Will they book you in for any further scans? X

@loveacupoftea18 Sorry I've just seen you have put that your next scan is booked in already. I really hope it goes well and that there is some good news. I've seen all kinds of stories online where there have been positive outcomes when least expected. I know it's very difficult. X

Thanks.

Sending you lots of positivity. Your baby is measuring a lot bigger than mine so I think there's lots of hope! X

LetMeIn321 · 02/03/2020 22:02

@loveacupoftea18 I think they may be the same as mine was measuring around 6+1 or 6+2. The baby was 6mm. And they said at 7w 3d it would usually be around 10mm. I'm sure sometimes these measurements can be wrong. It's such a tiny measurement and I imagine may not always completely accurate. Who knows .. x

Hi!
I had my first scan about a month ago and measured 7 weeks 6 days. They said it was too early to complete the scan, and to come back in 4 weeks (which I did), and everything luckily seems to be going okay! Just to add to the positive stories in this thread xx
Keep taking your folic acid supplements and vitamins, and stay as stress free as you can. Best of luck my lovely 💕

@definitelynotjenniferaniston I'm really glad to hear you had positive news. Yes I'm trying to be calm and relaxed. Trying different things which has helped (yoga, meditation, reading etc). Thank you for your comment and well wishes, and best of luck with your pregnancy. x

I just wanted to update as I didn't want to leave the thread incomplete. Today I went for my scan. They told me that at my last scan 2 weeks ago, the baby actually measured 3.6mm (not 6mm like they told me) so I was measuring at 5weeks pregnant when I was 7weeks and 3days. The good news is the baby has grown (is now 16mm) and still has a strong heartbeat. The baby is measuring 1 week behind so this could be because it implanted late. So although I'm 9weeks 3days, the baby is measuring 8weeks and 1day but all looks fine. So all seems ok right now, and we are delighted although still in shock as we wasn't expecting good news..! Thank you for your messages and support on this post. X
