just back from holiday in turkey (perfect peaches, lovely people, blue blue skies, i will stop right now). at our hotel met v nice couple with twins of 20 months.

chatting in the deep end, it turns out she is 12 wks pg -- with another set of twins. no ivf or anything, she's just immensely fertile (not that she phrased it quite like that ). she is just prone to popping out double eggs every month. she says her obstetrician says it's pretty rare. she seemed very chipper about it.

yikes. can you imagine? is it really possible that she will have 4 kids under two and a half?

That makes me feel slightly ill - because I know I couldn't cope. Full of envy for anyone who could though.
Holiday sounds wonderful - esp. on a day like today

must say my reaction was much the same as both of yours. it's difficult though, didn't want to commiserate. burst out laughing instead, prob equally tactless

her twins were v mellow (which i suppose contributed to her relaxed attitude)

(unlike my dd, 3 in nov, who darted around the hotel restaurant/pool like hyacinth bouquet, frenziedly introducing herself to all the other guests. most were grandparenty types who were nice to her but i did worry she was turning into the hotel bore, cornering people at the bar and droning on about her dolly, her teddy, and nursery school mores etc. )

I heard a story (supposedly true, was going around Northamptonshire NCT circles) about a lady who had twins on IVF. 6 weeks after the birth she finds out she's pregnant (naturally, unexpectedly) and...
it turns out to be twins!

can you get quad buggies?

imagine bathtime

princesspeahead · 04/10/2004 11:54

if that was me they'd each get a bath every four days....

JanH · 04/10/2004 12:06

And I'd probably find I kept bathing the same one twice.

gingernut · 04/10/2004 13:00

You can get quad buggies...2 in front and 2 behind, I once saw a photo somewhere. Must handle like a double decker bus though!

gingernut · 04/10/2004 13:14

here !

bakedpotato · 05/10/2004 10:33

well... thanks for that, i guess, gingernut.
now i really feel sorry for her

lady near me had three under five and fell pregnant again - with triplets! I don't see her around as much these days ....

prettycandles · 05/10/2004 14:10

I know someone whose sister has 7 children from 3 pregnancies (all naturally conceived). I think it was twins, trips, twins, but at least they had 3-4 years between each set. They didn't have routine scans in those days, so all but the last were surprises!
