The wait to the 20 week scan-anyone else?

Just wondering if anyone else is in the wait period before their 20 week scan ?
Mines not until 9th April ! I’m 14 weeks 1 day currently .
Anxiety is KILLING ME , so I have booked a private but that’s still not until 16th March (I wanted to do it where it was 4 weeks after 12 week scan and about 4 weeks until the 20 week ). But even that just seems forever away 🤣 I have no symptoms really now so it’s literally living the unknown every day hoping baby is still there - so irrational right ? I have no reason to be worried, it’s my first pregnancy so that’s probably why I am feeling this way.
Anyone else with me ?

I’m with you! My 20 week scan is a week tomorrow and I just so want to know that everything is ok with the baby! Feels like forever since the 12 weeks scan. I’ve started to feel the baby kick though, so that’s nice

EssElsiee · 01/03/2020 19:30

I had a 16 week scan on the 11th feb and it still literally feels ages away until my 20 week scan 😭 it’s 16th March .. I’ll be 21 weeks so it’s actually like a 5 week wait .. it was only 3 weeks Inbetween my 12 and 16 week scans because I ended up being 13 weeks at my 12 week scan! I can’t bare it the suspense is too much feels like forever

EssElsiee · 01/03/2020 19:32

I also haven’t felt the baby move yet but I do know my placenta is at the front so this could be a reason why... still I wish I could just feel something!

Nowayorhighway · 01/03/2020 21:18

I’m 19 weeks so my scan is this Friday. I’m dreading it, scans are always anxiety ridden for me due to previous missed miscarriages. I’m just looking forward to getting it out of the way now and hoping it’s all positive news so I can relax a tiny bit. I have felt the odd little movement but also have an anterior placenta so they have mostly been tiny taps.

Annafs · 01/03/2020 22:47

I’m in the same boat! Currently 16 weeks and have a private scan booked in for 17 weeks as we’ve been having a rough time in general with work things and really wanted to see the baby again to uplift us. I haven’t been anxious for any previous scan but now feeling a little nervous for some reason. Excited but still nervous!

Baby00 · 02/03/2020 07:12

I'm nearly 17 weeks and it does feel like such a long time since the 12 week scan. I had a private scan last week which was great, but the 20 week scan still feels like ages away!

Lauren15691 · 02/03/2020 07:39

I'm 14+3 today, scan is on 7th april so I'm in the same boat as you. Only saving grace for me is a gender scan which is in just less than 2weeks so at least that's something to help pass the time. Are you booking a gender scan? It's such a long wait, it felt like the biggest hurdle ever was passing 12 weeks but the anxiety hasnt subsided whatsoever as now I'm just worried for the 20 week!! Try and stay positive though, most people dont have symptoms in the first trimester I hear! I dont have many although I'm usually very slim and now I'm noticeably bigger Grin

Tink2007 · 02/03/2020 07:45

Mine is on April 7th and feels like forever away.

GaaaaarlicBread · 02/03/2020 07:50

Sorry to hear everyone is feeling the same as me !! But also so relieved it’s not just me !
@Lauren15691 same as you I’m bigger and do have a bump as I’m usually very slim too, but when you’re at the awkward stage of no symptoms and can’t feel baby yet it’s just awful isn’t it !
Are you thinking it’s a boy or a girl ?
We are having a 16 week scan but not finding out the gender I don’t think! We’re not quite sure if we want to know 🤣

Yes, I’m 16+ 3 and mines on sodding April fools day.

Lauren15691 · 02/03/2020 08:09

I meant to say second trimester in my post, sorry! Yeah I'm the same as you then really, not really any symptoms apart from a bigger stomach and some round ligament cramps. Oh my god a gender scan without knowing the gender, you have some will power!! I'm dying to know as it makes it a bit more real, plus Im struggling with finding nice neutral baby clothes! I've no idea what i think it is. People say you have an instinct but I have none whatsoever. Do you feel like you know what you'll have?

sel2223 · 02/03/2020 08:11

16+3 here, waiting for 20 week scan on 26th march....it still seems like forever away.
I really hoped my ridiculous anxiety would disappear after my dating scan but , nope, it's back.
Contemplating an extra scan this week or next to help me through....

memh · 02/03/2020 08:17

With you all here. I am 19 weeks and have my scan a week today. Had a private gender scan at 16 weeks - but feels like ages ago now. I had very strong symptoms until about a week ago, but gradually feeling human again, which is causing more worry 😂 we just can't win!

Windy1234 · 02/03/2020 10:23

yes me too! mine is not until 17 March when ill be 21 weeks, I just want to get to this scan and everything be okay so I can hopefully start getting excited! just don't feel like I can until we get passed this scan

robarc · 02/03/2020 10:53

20 Week scan is 6th April for me too! This is my 2nd baby but I seem to be more nervous this time around and worrying so much more that everything is ok. I had some stomach cramps last night and i just keep thinking the worst even though i do hope its down to toilet issues Hmm

Rhiandrath · 02/03/2020 11:41

Mine is on 9 March and I'm excited but also very nervous. This is my first baby and I know there can be things that go wrong even if everything feels perfect. I'm really hoping to find out the baby's gender and I just miss seeing what is going on in there- it feels so long since 12 week scan. I have been feeling the baby move quite a bit which is lovely, but I am definitly with you on the anxiety about the scan!

Everest1 · 02/03/2020 11:57

Glad im not the only one feeling like that. Im 16 +5 and recently dont feel pregnant at all. Scan is 26th March which seems ages away. I havent felt any movements yet either. X

GaaaaarlicBread · 02/03/2020 12:49

I’ve booked for a scan tonight at 4pm as my anxiety has heightened due to cramping that I’m sure is just stretching as I’ve had no bleeding but I just can’t cope for much longer !!

Liverbird77 · 02/03/2020 12:52

Mine is next week. I am also worried and hoping all is ok because I have an anterior placenta and haven't felt any movement yet.
We had the nipt at ten weeks so we already know it's a little girl.

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 02/03/2020 13:03

Mine is this month on Friday the 13th urgh! I'll be 20+5 when I have it.
I'm really nervous but trying to stay positive. Not had a scan since my 12 week one so it feels like it has been ages.
I'm so worried something will be wrong but also know the odds are on my side.
Pregnancy is just a never ending train of worry!

GaaaaarlicBread · 02/03/2020 13:24

I keep trying to tell myself the odds are on my side too because surely after 12 week scan the risks are very small ? 😩 it’s the unknown I hate it !!

OP posts:
squashie34 · 02/03/2020 14:58

With you all 100% here!! I'm 18 weeks now, and the wait for the 18th March is just horrendous. Symptoms have all gone (except the gas much to my OHs disgust 🙄) and I haven't felt any movements yet even though my placenta is at the back. I don't feel pregnant and with my anxiety it's hard to believe it's still growing in there! I had a 16 week gender scan 2 weeks ago but that anxiety always comes creeping back in soon enough doesn't it!

GaaaaarlicBread · 02/03/2020 17:03

Had my scan and baby is perfect . They said I have a tilted uterus so that can cause bad cramping ! Baby was moving a lot and seemed very happy !

The wait to the 20 week scan-anyone else?
OP posts:
thethirdbar · 02/03/2020 17:46

i am the same - literally counting down the hours to my 20 week scan on 11th mar (20+3). our 12 week was on 16th jan and we haven't had a private one inbetween as couldn't justify the expense. the midwife didn't even listen for heatbeats at our 16week so it's been such a long wait, it's a bit hard sometimes not to worry. i have felt what i think are some movements in the last week or so but they're very hard to distinguish from general digestive grumbles !

i am lucky(!) enough to have quite a lot of horrid pregnancy symptoms still, so hopefully that's an indicator that something's going ok but i am in a constant state of 'omg are you guys ok in there?'

i also keep having really intrustive thoughts where i imagine getting awful news at our scan which is horrid. i just want the wait to be overrrrrr. at which point, presumably, i will immediately start worrying till the next one. is this motherhood?!

GaaaaarlicBread · 02/03/2020 18:32

@thethirdbar my midwife appointment is after our 16 week scan so I’m hoping we can hear the HB at the scan and then if the midwife doesn’t listen at least I have reassurance from the scan three days before .
I think this is motherhood yes !! Forever going to feel this way 🤣
