Anterior placenta - bleeding

Can anybody shed any light on this?

I've been bleeding on and off since day 1 of pregnancy, it calmed down between weeks 10 and 15 but has picked up again in the last 2 weeks (15-17). I went to see my midwife last week who I told, she tried to check the HB of baby and couldn't find it and sent me to triage. They couldn't find the source of the bleed but baby is ok and the HB couldn't be found due to my placenta.

Is it possible to bleed with an anterior placenta just because of its location and the front of the uterus stretching the most?

It's not heavy blood, but is consistently there when I wipe/put pressure on tissue at the entersncr to my vagina.

Hey @Babyshine2020

I'm SO glad i've just seen this post- i'm currently 17 weeks 2 days and having the exact same, bleeding to the point i've been to A&E this morning but after a scan baby is fine and heartbeat strong but still worrying. How did things go the rest of your pregnancy? x

Hi OP, I have no experience in this however I do have an Anterior Placenta, I wasn't told it causes bleeding however at 20w scan they check the position of it in case it is low lying, perhaps if it is low lying, that could be causing it?

My sister in law bled throughout her entire pregnancy, they couldn't really find a cause but everything was absolutely fine and she now has a 2 year old son.

Hi @Vogue1992
How far gone are you? Have you experienced any bleeding or spotting in your pregnancy at all?

Vogue1992 · 09/02/2021 08:22

Hi @BumpBabe personally I didn’t get any bleeding no, I’m 19w 4d and haven’t felt Baby move yet which I know is common with an Anterior Placenta, I know bleeding isn’t presumed normal as such, but it’s very common as I said my sister in law bled and quite heavily throughout the entire pregnancy and Baby was fine. Glad everything was OK at your scan x
