hello! they sound like brqaxton hicks which are your body's way of practising for the real thing. have you had a "show", a perhapsbloodied mucus plug, or loss of water, anything like that?

braxton sorry

bloomers · 05/09/2007 22:37

Almost certainly braxton hicks (I had them from about 26 weeks onwards and DS was born a week overdue) BUT if you have any other symptoms or if they get worse, call your midwife or GP and get a check up. If your LO is about to put in an appearance early, 30 weeks is not too bad and he/she should be just fine.

I'm 28 wks with 2nd pg and have also started to get period-like pains in the last week or so which I don't remember from 1st pg. I mentioned it to my midwife who said rather vaguely that it could be a sign of premature labour and to phone the labour ward if I was worried. Well of course I was worried after that so phoned labour ward and went for a check-up. Anyway, 3 hrs later was sent home - they couldn't tell me what it was but the visit gave me some much needed peace of mind (they were able to reassure me that I wasn't having any early tightening or contractions). They also said that some women do just get inexplicable abdominal pain ... so if you are worried, I would suggest getting it checked out, at least that way you can put your mind at rest. I am still getting the pains a few days after my hospital visit but now feel much easier about it.

hi there

i am 34 weeks pregnant and have started itch a lot, especially at night. I have had my bloods done today to test for cholomisitis (cant spell it) but its a serious condition and can be harmful to the baby... has anyone else had any itching?
