I think the bigger the baby gets, the movements change. I now (36 weeks tomorrow) feel bigger movements like bum sticking under ribs or moving back/bum from left to right side, as opposed to the little taps and kicks. However if you have any concerns that baby isn’t moving I would get it checked just to be sure.

If you’re noticing less movements you should definitely be checked out. I was checked several times in two out of three of my pregnancies. All was fine but best to get checked.
If you call the maternity unit of your local hospital they will book you in for monitoring. You’re not being a nuisance

If you’re feeling reduced movements you really do need to go into the hospital for monitoring. Even if it happens a few times and you have to keep going in. They won’t think you are overreacting. Everything is likely totally fine but better to be certain.

Go in for monitoring Smile

I'd say the movements definitely change, but not the frequency of them. As pp's have said, call and they will ask you to go in for monitoring. I done it 2/3 times myself throughout my pregnancy.

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 27/02/2020 21:37

Absolutely go in. Mine changed at about 37 weeks and it turned out to be because she had turned transverse (having been head down at my 36 week scan).

Bol87 · 27/02/2020 21:37

Reduced movement should always be checked.

That said, my babies movements feel different these days. There are not less of them, she’s very active quite constantly but I feel a lot less jabby kicks & way more pushing, rolling, limbs out the side of my belly.

She’s also changed pattern, which I did go get checked. She used to be really active in the morning & quiet around lunch time, early afternoon. Now she’s seemingly asleep until about 11am, then wakes up! I went for monitoring on the first day she did this as I was worried but then noticed the same pattern the next day & so on! Now I’m happy with her new pattern!

Any concerns, go go go to your MAU. The midwives at mine have always been so lovely & reassuring!

*im 37 weeks by the way

Have a look at the kicks count website. Go in, any time you feel changes in movement, every day if you need to. They will never tell you you’re wasting their time and it’s so important.. I ended up with an emergency c section after my baby stopped moving, it turned out the placenta was failing. Good luck x

summerrain34 · 27/02/2020 22:03

Yes I am feeling more like my belly will get hard and then I'll feel my belly and the bum feels like it's sticking out but the pattern of moving a lot before I go
To sleep has never changed

Any change in movements should be checked out Asap. Call the midwife unit now!!

SospanFrangipan · 27/02/2020 22:34

Please go in for monitoring. Have a google for kicks count, they have the best advise in regard to what you should get checked out for.

Keha · 27/02/2020 23:40

I would echo people saying get checked out.

However, research does show that the force of baby's movement changes in the 3rd trimester due to less space. So, my experience is I feel movement as frequently, but it feels different. More wriggling and squirming, less punches and kicks.
