Hello! Just wondered if there are any 40 and over pregnant ladies on here , or if there's an existing thread I've missed!

Bumping for you. No idea if there's a current thread, but as a mum who had DD just before her 42nd birthday, I just wanted to say congrats. Grin

hamjul · 27/02/2020 16:16

Hi yes! And this is my first, after alot of hard work I am 23 weeks today :) congrats on your pregnancy!

sequinednostrils · 27/02/2020 16:28

Hoorah! Thankyou Socrime, I'm spending a lot of time trying not to stress and also not get too excited in case something goes wrong.
Due date is 25 th Oct so still early days.
hamjul congrats! How are you feeling? I'm at the massive knockers stage but otherwise fairly spritely.

hamjul · 28/02/2020 13:47

@sequinednostrils im exactly the same as you, trying to stave away the anxiety at the same time not get too excited. I am due 25th June, its creeping up quickly! Also the same with the knockers, but no complaints really. I havent had any kind of sickness, just the tiredness in the first few months knocked me for six!
Try and enjoy the miracle of pregnancy, cause it truly is that!

Flipflops23 · 28/02/2020 13:57

Congratulations!

I am 42, will be 43 when baby is born. I am currently 25 weeks, due 9th June.

overthinkingismymiddlename · 28/02/2020 14:05

I'm 39. 40 in May. Due August. Do I count?

sequinednostrils · 28/02/2020 14:09

flipflops congrats to you!

I've got the tiredness, just out of the blue it suddenly hits and I feel really cold and I need to put the heating on and sit down. I'm pretty fit as I've run marathons most of my adult life, but decided not to run in this pregnancy and am doing low impact. I'm 47 so I'm hoping the fitness goes in my favour.

hamjul · 28/02/2020 14:41

@sequinednostrils I will be 47 in April, this is my first :) hats off to you for running marathons, ive done a few London. I feel totally unfit atm, i was too scared to do anything first trimester, and now im just so physically exhausted after a full days work in London with the commute! I am starting pregnancy yoga tomorrow for a six week course, they say is great for breathing techniques however ive confirmed with my consultant im having a c-section for delivery. That, for me, lessens the anxiety a tad!

Flipflops23 · 28/02/2020 14:41

@sequinednostrils I have been broken in ways I never thought possible during this pregnancy. Ive had all day every day 'morning' sickness, extreme tiredness, episodes of bleeding on and off, permanent cold hands and feet, constipation, the list goes on....... I am self employed so have had to drag myself to work, although I think ultimately this has been a good thing, otherwise i may not of got out of bed. I have 2 older children who are 16 and 12, who also keep me busy and out of bed lol. Being pregnant in my 40s has so far been a total rollercoaster ride and completely different to two very easy pregnancies in my 20s.

How many weeks are you now? Being fit and healthy can only be a good thing, but as I keep being told every pregnancy is different.

sequinednostrils · 28/02/2020 14:56

@hamjul oh it's so great not to feel I'm the oldest weirdo in town!
Swimming is excellent for pregnancy fitness, I've never done yoga, let me know how you get on.

@flipflops I'm nearly 6 weeks so still early days. I've an 8 year old with adhd and I'm self employed too so no lie ins for me either. I'm also a lone parent . Not looking forward to the aches and sickness. But it's all in a good cause. I've not got used to the comedy breasts yet !

OP posts:
sequinednostrils · 28/02/2020 15:00

@hamjul- not that you're a weirdo! Just I am a bit hesitant to tell people my age as I feel they may see me as a bit of a freak. Not quite got used to it yet. Everyone my age is posting on f b about impending peri menopause. I'll be a month off my 48 th birthday when I give birth( if all goes well)

OP posts:
freezerdinners · 28/02/2020 15:05

I'm 39, but 40 before number 3 hopefully arrives in September, all being well. Can I join?!

I'm 10 weeks ish now. Have been feeling the worst in this pregnancy - wonder how much is due to having to keep up with my two existing kids though, or whether it is an age thing.

As I'm usually an A cup, I'm enjoying my fuller busted silhouette... if only I could bear them being touched! The thought just make me want to barf though...

hamjul · 28/02/2020 15:14

@sequinednostrils haha I totally get it re telling the age thing, although I feel so proud also to be an older mummy to be. Everyone has a story behind their pregnancy, mine is one of years of desiring to be a mum however circumstances prevented me and then my age presented me with so many blockers to concieve. Dont get me started on the hellish menopause... I pinch myself every day as it still feels so surreal, I have started shopping etc now because I was so scared I was tempting fate by doing so a few weeks ago. Is this normal?!
@freezerdinners haha with you on the touching of said bust, mine are out of control. Ive gone past an F cup now, I'm usually 34D - they really swell on some days!

Flipflops23 · 28/02/2020 15:21

I can only dream of an A cup, I was FF before pregnancy, god knows what I am now, tried on several maternity bras and hated them all so making do with my older bras.....

When I tell people I'm pregnant they laugh, not in a mean way, more of a rather you than me way....

Its definitely a rollercoaster ride but as people say, anything worth doing is never easy...

Flipflops23 · 28/02/2020 15:26

@hamjul I still haven’t brought anything yet

Connie222 · 28/02/2020 16:27

I turned 40 a couple of weeks ago! Currently 13 weeks.

I feel like shit compared to my other pregnancies - I was 22 and 34 so I’m wondering if it’s because I’m older this time.

sequinednostrils · 28/02/2020 16:43

@hamjul yes totally with you on the not buying anything at the earlier stages. I don't want to jinx it almost. Although I had to give in and buy some cheap bigger comfy bras!

Me over here! Tentatively waving! Had scan yesterday & I'm 13 weeks now. Will be 42 when baby arrives. Eeeek 😬 only DH knows so far. I'm preparing myself for a few raised eyebrows.

AliasGrape · 28/02/2020 18:07

I’m 18 weeks and I’m 40. I’m also terrified. I had some bleeds in the early days and have been sort of expecting everything to go wrong really. 12 week scan was all good but I’ve had no reassurance since really, the midwife didn’t listen to heartbeat at 16 weeks appointment. Just counting down the days till 20 week scan now and really hoping for good news there.

I’m knackered still, maybe slightly less so than in first trimester but still pretty wrecked by the end of the day. Definitely no blooming or glowing here. I’ve been doing an aquanatal class once a week which I really enjoy, The woman who runs it has just started a second one so I might try to go to both, since it’s pretty much my only exercise.

sequinednostrils · 29/02/2020 07:01

@Alias oh it's so hard isn't it, the waiting whilst trying not to stress and worry. Can you have a private reassurance scan?
I'm having one next week as the wait til 12 weeks seems so long.

I had a terrible night last night. Not with the pregnancy but my dd had a doosie of a meltdown/ overwhelm and I lost it and wasn't patient. There were stress hormones racing through my body. I shouted a lot. 😞 not my finest moment. I'm usually patient and like to think kind.

Hi ladies - my first time on here - though I must have read a million posts. I am 42 and due on the 25th October. I’m very anxious as I have had 3 miscarriages (@6-8weeks) and a MMC (@11w) along with a couple of chemical pregnancies over the last 4 years. So hoping that progesterone might make a difference this time ?! Looking forward to sharing this journey a little as I darent tell friends/family till there is def something to tell. Thanks for listening - hope you are all having a stress free day x

3isthemagicnumber3 · 29/02/2020 10:23

I found out I was pregnant with my surprise on my 40th birthday (all being well). Due mid October, so early days but been feeling horrifically sick all week and been going to bed at 8pm, so very tired! This was a big shock as DH has had a vasectomy (its definitely his!!!) my other 2 are 7 and 9, so will have to get used to sleepless nights etc all over again but now that the shock has worn off, we are very excited and think the other 2 will be when we tell them too!!

Angelsis21 · 29/02/2020 11:09

Hi 3 - despite all my miscarriages I also have a 7&9 yo too :) so I’m hoping if this is no. 3 it will complete the family too. X I’ve not got many symptoms - just sore boobs & tired. But with my 7&9 year olds I had really bad morning sickness - so hoping it’s not a bad sign that I’ve not got any this time. Have you got your booking appt yet with the midwife?

3isthemagicnumber3 · 29/02/2020 12:00

Hi Angel, I guess I am about a week ahead of u (7 weeks today) and I spent all last weekend worrying about my lack of symptoms, until Monday (6+2) when they appeared with force! I too was really sick with both my pregnancies and this one probably old to be no different.
I haven’t got a booking in appointment yet, the rules here are that we phone the doctors at 8 weeks to get a referral to the midwife, the midwife contacts to arrange the appointment and then the midwife refers for the 12 week scan at the booking in appointment. I wish you luck with your pregnancy and everyone else on here.
