Best prenatal vitamin?

Hello! I was wondering what prenatal vitamin you all are taking? I have been taking vitafusion chewable, but read perhaps the amount of Vitamin A in this supplement is not good? I prefer chewable as I have a very difficult time swallowing large pills!
I am TTC still, so am currently taking to get a dose of folic acid!

Any advice you have is much appreciated!!

Hopefully someone will be along soon with useful advice - best of luck with your pregnancy, @mommytobe2020 Flowers

Hi @mommytobe2020, I believe you shouldn’t take any vitamin A at all in pregnancy as it can cause birth defects so definitely stop taking them. I too struggle with large pills and found that Pregnacare have both chewables and liquid in Holland & Barrett so bought both! The liquid seems to have more of certain vitamins than the chewables but both are recommended for pregnancy. I’ve not tried the liquid yet but can tell you the chewables aren’t nice, though better than having to chew the actual tablets which is what I ended up doing beforehand! Hope that helps xx

I'm just taking the free Healthy Start vitamins from the midwife, no need for anything else.

I’m taking pregna care max because that’s what my GP told me to take - it’s 3 tablets a day - one of which is an omega 3, she said this is important for the baby’s brain.

Ive taken pregacare plus all through my pregnancy although not sure if there any better than the healthy start ones probably no difference apart from the omega 3.i just bought them and stuck with them .

If you hate large pills, take Seven Seas Trying For A Baby. It has easily all the vitamins you could ever require whether trying or pregnant & the pill is tiny.

You technically only need Vitamin D3 & Folic Acid. My midwife told me not to bother with anything else unless my diet was very poor. Folic Acid is essential and D3 has proven benefits as well. In the UK, people tend to be quite deficient in D3 due to the lack of sun! I’d also argue Omega 3 capsules are a must take as it’s fantastic for babies brain development & your joints during pregnancy!

Do not take any vitamin tablet with Vitamin A during pregnancy. It can be dangerous to baby - see attached. So stop the vitamins you are taking now & switch to something that doesn’t contain A.

No multivitamin is better than another. If you eat a decent & varied diet, you don’t need to supplement. But if you don’t, then chose any brand really. Just make sure there’s no A in it!!

This is all such great advice. Thank you all for letting me know! I will take a look at the ones in Holland & Barrett. I don't mind taste so much as just being able to get them down!
I havent heard about omega 3, so that is also great advice! Thank you ladies!!! xx

@Bol87 do you know if Seven Seas for Trying For A Baby are good to take also during pregnancy? Not just when trying to conceive? The size of this pill seems great for me!
