Don’t tell people you’re not drinking. Be the designated driver or Just have a glass and pretend to sip, rope your partner in if they’ll be there and swap drinks, get them to fetch you a G&T without the gin in it etc. In my experience people dont really notice that much and you don’t need to draw attention to it by making up excuses

Exactly what PP said. Don't draw attention to it. Congratulations Smile

My DD went all over Christmas not telling anyone she was pregnant. That included a very boozy works Christmas do, big family get together and a girls night out.
She just said she was on antibiotics for a kidney infection (hence needing the loo all the time). noone suspected, not even me.

Does the wedding occur overlent? You could say you've given it up for that?

Cakeandslippers · 27/02/2020 10:33

I just drank tonic water and no one questioned me.

I was pregnant at my wedding, and I just held a glass of champagne the whole time. Least said, fewest suspicions.

Don't bring attention to it and always have a drink in your hand. People won't offer then.

We went to a party recently and I just drank tonic water on its own and then changed to lemonade. Nobody even noticed and when there was champagne for a toast I just held it, my boyfriend drank half of his then we swapped etc. We got away with it easy 😁

I agree, don’t make an excuse because we’ve all heard them all before. I went to one and held the same glass of Prosecco for ages. Also managed to swap glasses with DH a few times. He had a great night....

After I’d announced it one friend did tell me she’d noticed as she was sat next to me for dinner. Fortunately she was polite enough to not ask and to wait until I was ready to share the news.

Thanks everyone I'll try the drinking lemonade ago. Hopefully no one notices lol.

See, everytime I hear this excuse I automatically assume the person is pregnant or ttc. It just doesn't cut it. And whilst it is advisable to avoid alcohol when on antibiotics (can cause dizziness) theres only a handful where its strictly no drinking and you wouldn't be taking them for kidney infection.

Just drink tonic water, or lemonade with lime, looks like a g&t. Or be the driver. Unless your renowned for being the one that's always pissed as a fart never without a drink no one will notice.

Zorka17 · 27/02/2020 21:50

Be the driver. You've got an excuse to drink as much fizzy pop as you need
