Just fell down the stairs....panicking!

I'm 16 weeks, just had my midwife appointment this morning and got to hear my baby's lovely strong heartbeat 😃

Came home tonight and just managed to lose my balance and slip down about 6 stairs. I immediately felt sick and dizzy and think I've bruised my coccyx as it hurts to sit down.

Could i have harmed my baby?

I'm in a LDR with baby's father and flying out to see him on Friday.

If it was me I'd ring my midwife unit and see if I could be checked out to be on the safe side xx

Did you land on your bum or your front? If you've landed on your bum then whilst you might have hurt yourself, I would doubt that would hurt the baby. Call 111 if you are worried. If you landed on your stomach then I think I would get checked out.

I landed on my bum....went down with a hell of a thud though.

Do you think I should wait till morning and then call and see if they can see me tomorrow?

Ring the midwife unit and just get checked to be on the safe side.
I slipped and skidded badly when I was expecting my third a bit further along then you are, they were happy to scan baby and check us both over even though I landed on my arse
Precious cargo!
Hope you are ok.

Same thing happened to me at 34 weeks with DS, 8 nearly 9 years ago. The pain was unreal. Definitely phone your midwife and ask to be checked tomorrow, they won't mind.

I had a couple of slips like that in one pregnancy, and in my last, the older one accidentally jumped onto my bump with both feet when meaning to jump onto the couch! Bit scary but all well both times - don’t know if a little anecdotal reassurance helps. No harm in ringing if you’re worried though.

Baby is well protected and likely fine, however you should ring your pregnancy assessment unit/ advice line so they can ask you more details and also check your bloods in case you are rh neg as this may mean bloods and/or anti d.

Thank you everyone. I'm still feeling sick over an hour later but that could just be from the pain in my coccyx and/or the worry!
Going to wait it out till morning and call up if I still don't feel right x

Another here who took a bad tumble during pregnancy. Landed face down actually. Baby was totally fine. The only thing that calmed me on the other hand was getting an additional check the next morning! Midwife/hospital more than happy to oblige in the circumstances.

PepperMooMoo · 27/02/2020 06:34

Just go anyway, better to be cautious.

Good luck today. You definitely need to be seen. Don't understate the fall with the midwife, as women we often do this. Falls can be serious and worrying.

sel2223 · 27/02/2020 07:29

I just called the maternity unit and they said no need to come in as they would only scan if I'd hit my bump, started bleeding or if I was rhesus negative blood group (which I'm not).

I didn't sleep too well but not feeling sick anymore which is good. Just going to monitor it today.

My coccyx is killing me though....can I take paracetamol and ibuprofen?
