Constant headaches are getting me down

I'm 8 weeks - I have always been prone to headaches during my period so are hormone related/triggered. I've had pretty much a constant headache for a week now and it's at the point I'm feeling so down and miserable. I did give in and take paracetamol today but it didn't do much. I've been looking online for tips and found some cool strips for the forehead which I'm going to try. Any other tips that don't just involve me busting open the codeine?

Haven't got any advice as such but just wanted to say I understand how hard it is.
I've been suffering with horrendous headaches since a head injury 6 months ago. I'm now 16 weeks pregnant and still get them nearly every day to varying degrees.
I haven't found a miracle cure yet but the cool strips or cool roll on can give temporary relief. Some days I have no option but to have paracetamol but it doesn't always help.
The only real answer is to lie in a dark room with my eyes closed, which isn't always possible.

Thanks I actually went to buy some of those cool strips I didn't have much faith in them but they bring some surprising relief Smile

I suffered with really bad headaches and migraines at a point in my pregnancy, doctors prescribed me codeine for them and it really took the edge off... Speak to the gp they may prescribe you something a little stronger.

The key thing is to take the paracetamol at the very, very earliest sign of a headache. Migraines mean that your system shuts down, so the drugs won't be absorbed.

I've been having headaches throughout and have been trying to avoid taking anything. Some of the things I've tried include exercising (short run), shower, drinking really cold water, head massage from my partner. Sometimes they work, sometimes not.

No need to avoid paracetamol - it's honestly safe during pregnancy! But you must take it at the very, very first sign of a headache.

Ah maybe that's my issue then I took it when I'd already been fighting one for hours. First sign is good advice thank you
