Am I in labour? Need advice please

I am 38 + 2 weeks pregnant, for the past 2 hours I have not been able to get of the toilet (really sorry for tmi) with really watery diarrhoea and severe stomach pains. The pain is now coming and going and still very painful, this is my first pregnancy so I dont know what contractions are like. I dont know if the pains are caused by needing the toilet or is it labour starting and I really dont want to bother the hospital if it isnt serious but the pains are 8 of ten when they come. Any advice?

Ring your hospital for advice. It could be labour or it could be a dodgy stomach. Are you timing the pain?

Mooey89 · 26/02/2020 20:26

Are they coming at regular intervals?
You can get diarrhoea in early labour so it could be... call your midwife. X

agree ring for advice.
they can check if you contracting

Josie9998 · 26/02/2020 20:32

The pains feel like a combo of period pain and sore dodgy stomach, the pain isnt ever really going away but once every 20 mins or so it becomes worse for a while . Thanks

it's a tricky one.
I'd say stomach cramps with diarrhoea feel v similar to contractions

mrsed1987 · 26/02/2020 20:35

Very hard to say. I had diarrhoea and period like pains for about 12 hours before my waters broke. Then 4 hours late i had my baby

CalamityJune · 26/02/2020 20:36

It could be labour, the cramps are similar.

porple · 26/02/2020 20:37

ring for advice, cramps sound like labour

SEE123 · 26/02/2020 20:39

Sounds very similar to the beginning of my labour. Have you had any pink like discharge (show?)
I rang in after a few hours, I'd suggest you do the same and let them make the call on whether you need to go in.

SEE123 · 26/02/2020 20:39

Meant to also say best of luck OP!

octoberfarm · 26/02/2020 20:40

I had super bad cramps with my second labor, sounding very like what you describe. Was in labor for literally 24+ hours thinking it was a stomach bug before I eventually realized it was labor - baby was born shortly after! Definitely call in and speak to someone. Hope everything is smooth and quick from here on out! Good luck Smile

Josie9998 · 26/02/2020 20:44

Thanks guys I think I will see how the pain continues over the next hour as they are now back to constant pain all over my stomach! I haven't had any pink mucus but last night in my underwear had quite a big amount of white looking discharge (sorry for tmi) but havent had any heavy discharge today.

Josie9998 · 26/02/2020 22:13

The pains have eased slightly but feeling some pressure and still feed the need to go to the toilet and feeling lots of movement.
