Please help... early scan measuring small

Hi

Posted earlier in the week about my worries.... had an early private scan today.

According to LMP I am 7w 4d but I know I ovulated late so I was thinking 7w 1d.

Abdominal scan couldn't pick up much so had an internal. They measured me at a small 6 weeks plus 1, with a heartbeat. Told me to prepare myself that it might not be good news.

They said to refer to EPU for a scan that can then be followed up, but my EPU won't see me as I'm not bleeding?

Does anyone have any advice for getting into EPU? Or experienced anything similar? I am hoping beyond hope that it'll turn out ok, but I am also realistic.

Thank you

Why did they say to prepare yourself that it might not be good news? Is it an IVF pregnancy?

My dates were almost identical to yours. I should have been 7+5 by LMP but baby only measured 6+1 but had a strong heartbeat.
Went for a follow up 2 weeks later and baby had grown proportionately at 8+2
By the time I had my dating scan, baby had caught up by a week so is somewhere between the 2 dates.
I'm now 16 weeks and heard the heartbeat again today at the midwife appointment.

At no time did anyone seem concerned or tell me to worry. They said it was normal for dates to be out at early scans

Oh that's interesting.... gives me hope but I'm trying not to cling too much to hope.

They were worried about my dates, and the scan being potentially 10 days behind LMP. I was pleased that there was a heartbeat... I am really hoping to get some further reassurance from EPU if they'll see me.

@loveacupoftea18 I went for an early scan at8+5 and was measuring behind at 7+2 but was told baby looked perfect and we could see a strong heartbeat. When I spoke to my midwife he confirmed what mn had told me, that my lmp dates could be out due to late implantation or that baby could catch up by my dating scan as its literally mm out on an early scan so very easy to miscalculate. He never once appeared worried, said it is common with having early scans and simply booked my dating scan for 1 week later than I originally expected with the hope of it falling somewhere in the middle of the 10 day gap.

I've not had my scan yet (currently 11 or 10 weeks) but everything seems very normal and Ive never been told any otherwise x

I had this last week. I had IUI at my fertility clinic. I was 7+3 but they said the baby was measuring small at 6mm which I believe is 6+2. There was a heartbeat but we were also told to 'prepare ourselves' because it could go 'either way'. They've asked to go back this Friday which would be a 2 week gap to see if the baby has grown. It so worrying. I miscarried last year so this has been quite an anxious pregnancy anyway. Hopefully we'll both have good news x

Sadly my baby was measuring much smaller than that, though just about in the range for 6 weeks.

I've been for a follow up and whilst there was still a heartbeat it was very faint and so I'm expecting that there won't be one at all at my next scan very sadly.

But most of the stories I've read similar to mine have ended positively so I think there is every hope for you, especially at that many mm. Sending you all the luck.

Sorry to hear that x

@loveacupoftea18 I'm so so sorry to hear this. I know it's such a hard experience to go through. I have my follow up scan on Friday so will find out then. I know it's difficult but just try to take this one day at a time and take good care of yourself. Do you have some support? x

loveacupoftea18 · 04/03/2020 11:55

I do. I'm very lucky. And I have a wonderful 2 year old who I'm smothering in cuddles.

I have everything crossed for you! Please update if you feel you can.
