Large Hematoma 8 Weeks Pregnant

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone can share their experience or is going through something similar...

I am 8 weeks pregnant and have a large hematoma in my womb which is apparently classed as a threatened miscarriage. Has anyone had one of these? What was the outcome? They can see a heartbeat on the scan but seem concerned about the size of the clot and the fact the blood I am passing is bright red and there is quite a lot of it. Both my GP and the sonographer have said the blood should be brown as opposed to red. I have had two miscarriages back to back, the last one was a silent miscarriage as I found there was no heartbeat at my 11 week scan in spite of a heartbeat being visible when I was scanned at 8 weeks. The miscarriage was traumatic - it lasted 8 weeks and I ended up being taken in for emergency surgery so I am fairly terrified of going through another. Any advice greatly appreciated...

I have attached an image of the scan and have circled the hematoma for reference.

I had a hematoma that looked smaller on the picture but that was post bleed. So I think it would have been a similar size to yours before it was seen. I bled a lot, bright red blood and clots. I was convinced it was a MC because of the colour and amount of blood but it wasnt.
Hope this helps a little bit.. think positiveThanks

I had a subchronionic hematoma from weeks 5-9 for pregnancy 1 and it was very stressful indeed - huge gushes of blood which then slowed over a few days. Then cycle would repeat again. All was fine and my baby was fine, born a little early which can follow after this I believe but she is now a very healthy 7 year old. I’ve also had two miscarriages and they were more constant heavy bleeding. Also had fertility issues so was incredibly anxious already. I really feel for you. Keep resting as much as possible. Best of luck xxx
