When did labour happen?

I'm 38 weeks+2 and I am just so scared about when I will go into labour! I have a 38 week appointment with my midwife on Thursday and if I dont go by 40 weeks I will have another what happens at that? I am still attending all my university classes (silly I know but it's my last year and very important) and I am scared I go into uni and my waters break I think I am really underestimating how soon this could be! This is also my 1st baby, I've been having severe back pain, sorry for tmi ( a lot of discharge! And lots of bowel movements) but I dont think I've lost my mucus plug yet! When did everyone go and did you know the signs??

They will review you and probably book you another appointment for a week after that when you'll be offered a sweep, if you don't want that then they'll leave alone for a bit longer till your 40+12 and then offer to induce you. You can have a sweep between appointments if you want one.
I had my first at 40+2 naturally, had lots of period like pains and felt very uncomfortable. Had lots of baths and it didn't go away as usual. Trust you will know when it really kicks in, it just gets more and more intense. I get plenty of Braxton hicks (sometimes intense) but noticeable different to real contractions. You will also feel the head move further down in your pelvis's and get the pregnant lady worlds if you aren't there already.
I only stopped work at 38 weeks so don't beat yourself up about that.
Currently 40+5 with my second, can feel the head move down into my pelvis but not all the way down. I declined a sweep today as feel it might only be a few more days if left but she is going to call me on sat and I can go into hospital for a sweep if I want one or book in to be induced next Tuesday. Enjoy the calmness before the crazy newborn storm. Good luck with your final year! Xx

Sorry excuse all the typos, replying on my phone. Meant to say pregnant lady waddle.
My plug disappeared the morning I my first labour started. Had regular contractions start around 6pm after sitting on a exercise ball all day feeling like I could just not get comfy.
I was told a hot bath will stop false labour and help you relax and progress of its the real thing x

Very few women's waters break before labour is established. I was terrified of mine going in public until I learned how unlikely it is.
Mine went a few hours after I'd been induced which the nurses were surprised at as they usually try to break them for you 24hrs after induction.
I was looking out constantly for the mucus plug but that didn't appear until after the waters had broken and was only a small bit of mucus compared to what I was expecting.
