Laxatives whilst pregnant?

Hi ladies, I'm suffering from some SERIOUSLY bad constipation! I've had it on and off for many years but currently 25 weeks pregnant AND on co codamol for SPD so that's obviously a terrible combo for slowing down your bowels!

Over the last 3 days I've had:

12 sachets of movicol
6 senna tablets (3 each night)
About 12 litres of water
2 giant glasses of prune juice

Does anyone know if micro lax enemy's are safe during pregnancy? Some info online says yes but another page says only use enemas when full term?

I was in tears last night because I felt like Humpty Dumpty, my tum was rock solid and I felt like I couldn't breathe, I'm scared to eat because I'm so backed up.

My lovely fiancé has been shopping and got apples, pears, prunes, beans and dried figs so we're literally trying everything! Pray for me 😂😂

You might need to get a glycerine suppository - I know they can be used in pregnancy. Sometimes when it’s really bad there is a ‘blockage’ of very hard stool that can’t escape and holds everything back. If you’ve got that nothing you ingest will help (and will just make you more uncomfortable!).

I believe you can get from pharmacy (although best to send someone who isn’t pregnant in!) but GP is always the best bet.

Look into a squatty potty (or similar device to lift your legs up). I found it really helped a great deal. I bought a foldable type one, but anything to lift your legs helps.

I also found chia seeds helped- on yoghurt, sprinkled on cereal, chia pudding etc.

Lactulose is safe in pregnancy.
