Brown discharge at 5 weeks

Hi lovely people,

I am 5 weeks and 2 days PG with Baby #1 after a MMC in November and a Chemical in January. I am petrified everyday but I'm trying to stay positive and remember that I have more chance of this pregnancy working out than I do of it not.

Since Saturday, sometimes when I wipe I have some light brown discharge. It is very slight and sometimes it isn't there at all ... but I'm just worried that it hasn't gone yet.

Is it too late for implantation to be exiting the body?

I don't have any abnormal, overly painful cramping and no sign of actual bleeding 🤞🤞

Just worried and I guess I'm looking for reassurance or "this happened to me" and it was fine. 😊

This happened to me. GP said that unless it was period heavy with cramping etc then not to worry
But obviously if you are, go to the GP and they can check you out

Because I am a teacher, getting time off work for the drs is so awkward. But I shall see I can get one this afternoon or tomorrow.

I am also due a transvaginal ultrasound on Monday as my doctor wanted to check things after the CP. But I'm not sure it's a good idea .... of it causes spotting after, this will make me very anxious. But then I want to know the baby is definitely there too. 🙈

I had this at around 5-6 weeks then a week later some bright red blood. I really panicked as I'd been through 3 losses in the last 2 years, I was very stressed and booked a reassurance scan straight away. Everything was fine and I'm now 25 weeks! I would try your best not to worry if it's just brown discharge (I know the feeling of dread every time u go to the bathroom and the panic when there's ANYTHING on the tissue) perhaps book a scan for next week by which point they should be able to confirm everything is as it should be?

I have a transvaginal booked for Monday - but not because I was pregnant - my GP just wanted to rule out any issues. But I'm just worried that if it cause me to spot after, this will cause more anxiety.

I've had about 12 transvaginal ones hun all whilst pregnant and I never had spotting with them so that shouldn't be a problem, even with a private pregnancy scan they'd have to do it this way to see anything at this stage, sending positive vibes ur way, has the discharge eased yet?

It is so minimal that its laughable and it does ease every day and then comes back the next day, but again it's only minimal. I guess I'm getting so prepared for it is because my MC started with some odd coloured discharge so I just keep assuming, although slight, it is is the beginning of the end.

I just want a baby. I feel like its asking the universe too much at this point. 🤣

I spotted everyday from 4.5 weeks until 8 weeks. Now 22 weeks and everything is going well. I was so anxious about it but the drs were never that bothered so I think it’s a lot more common than we realise.

Hi Op, I had brown blood when wiping for a couple of days after I got my bfp- and thought it was the beginning of the end... I'm 29 weeks now. Try not to worry if you can x

@StephyRose Heya! I'm going through the same situation and a teacher too. I've had brown stringy bits come out, sorry for the details, and brown discharge since Friday. I'm now just over four weeks. My doctor wants me to go for blood tests but I don't want to ask for time out as I don't want anyone knowing yet. I'm literally praying everything is OK xx

Thanks everyone for your advice. I went to the toilet just now and saw some pink spotting. What do you think? Just praying that everything is okay. 🙏🙏

Handhold for you @Hhdxx, everything I have read suggests that brown is meant to be okay. 🤞💗 Ahh it sucks isn't it. Think I'm going to see HR first thing tomorrow morning and book a doctors appointment ASAP x

Every woman is different and every post like this has conflicting stories!

I had a MC In August at 5w and it started with brown discharge and progressed to spotting just like in your photo :(

HOWEVER my sister in law spotted/bled with both her pregnancies and has two chaotic children! Just you just.dont.know!

We have an emergency gyne unit in manchester and I went there as soon as I started to bleed and they did my HCGs and a vaginal scan so don’t wait if you are concerned!

I am around 6 weeks and also have brown discharge and pink spotting every day. After a mc last year I was terrified. However I've already had two scans and things seem to be progressing fine. Have another on Monday and hoping to see a heartbeat. Good luck!

How long did everyone have brown discharge for before their miscarriage? Mine has been on and off for 5 days now xxx

@Hhdxx a couple of days and then very very light spotting like in the pic above and then a bleed (not big enough for a pad or anything) a few days after that!

I had constant pelvic pain though before all of this!

Bleeding/spotting... even pain isn’t always a bad thing! It totally depends with every woman!

Just get checked out if you are REMOTELY concerned! I can’t stress this enough

@MrsRose2018 thank you. Mine has stopped now, haven't had it for over 24 hours. Do you think this is a good sign? I've only got mild cramps on and off but I think this is before I'm thinking about it xxx

It went away for me and then I had the bleed and the MC!

Happy to talk it out with you but if you are asking these questions just go to your EPU or emergency gyne clinic! I did and they did my bloods and scanned me the same day x

@MrsRose2018 mine won't scan me until 6 weeks and have basically said wait and see. The doctor has given me blood forms to go and do but I couldn't get out of work. Was your spotting brown or red? Xx

That’s shocking!! Where do you live? They’re hesitant to scan pre 6 weeks cos there isn’t always much/anything to see but you should always be able to get your bloods done!!

It was brown to start with, looked like the photo above and then was a bleed like you would get with a very light period!

My friend had a MC and hers was pretty much identical as well!

However like I/the others are saying some women get this and are fine!

The last 3 days i have been worrying as I firstly had really light pink spotting only when I wiped and had a bit in the toilet too. Then today I had brown/pink spotting everytime I went to the toilet. Then I had the tiniest bit of blood. I went to the hospital and they were useless! They didn’t reassure me at all. All they did was take a wee sample and said that I’m still pregnant. I have a scan on Friday so hopefully I get positive news. But has anyone experienced the same?

Nine weeks pregnant now, at 6 weeks had brown discharge when i wiped, lasted for that day, same happened at week 7 and 8.
Yesterday it was light pink and today its brown. Went to see a doctor no scan was done, was told its implantation.. Am really scared because i have jyst had blighted ovum last year
