Baby monitors that connect to your phone?

Hey, I'm starting to look at things to buy for the baby and I think I want to get a baby monitor.

We currently have a ring doorbell and we love it because we can do everything through our phone. I don't like the idea of having another device like most of these monitors that I'm seeing in John Lewis.

Does anyone know of any monitors that have good quality night mode cameras that connect to your phone and you can speak 2 ways through the phone to the baby.... similar to the ring doorbell technology?

Thanks!

I'm really not of the tin-foil hat conspiracy/paranoia brigade but I'd really recommend doing a bit of reading about wifi-connected monitors before you buy one - there are some absolutely horrendous stories of them being hacked. Obviously entirely your decision, but maybe worth finding out about security etc of a particular model before you buy it?

I’m interested in replies also, we’ve got ring doorbell and cameras too. I’ve been toying with the idea of putting another ring camera in the nursery instead of a baby monitor, purely for ease and seeing it on the phone. Would be nice to see if anyone has done this and if it’s a good/bad idea.

As for security, DH is quite paranoid about this and he pays extra for VPN for our internet so hopefully that should ensure it’s secure x

I am the exact same as PP not in the tinfoil hat brigade, we have a few alexas in the house and a ring doorbell but I don't think I'd get a baby monitor that connects to my phone, I haven't looked into any monitors yet as I'm just abit too early but I do believe you can get anti hack ones? Definitely do plenty of research and hopefully somebody will have experience of this and can help!

It's a good shout about security, so would definitely need one that's highly recommended.

@annafs it's a good idea about the Ring, I have seen some people do this but my ring doorbell doesn't have great night visibility, does yours? Not sure if it's because my drive isn't well lit up with security lights

I just think having it on my phone is a lot easier than a separate device as it means me and OH can always check on the go as we always have our phones on us but likely to forget an extra device.

The BT smart video monitor connects to your phone via an app and has great picture quality so of your out and someone else babysitting or husband at work they can check the mo itor on the app highly recommend x

We had the Withings smart baby monitor which was good. We have had quite a few of their products and their customer service has been good too.

Will have a look at Withinfa

@khall84 thank you I love this one! Just what we were looking for actually 🙌

In the cases of WiFi monitors being hacked the parents hadn’t changed the default password. Do that and you will be fine.
