Hi all

I'm due to attend my best friends hen do when I'll be 33 weeks (I'm bridesmaid). I don't have any concerns about attending other than what happens if I go into labour? Will I be covered by the reciprocal arrangement? Most travel insurance companies I've looked at only cover for premature births up to 28 weeks but a birth at 33 weeks would still be considered premature right? I'm sure I'm not the first person to travel to Ireland in the later stages of 3rd trimester so hoping there's a simple answer that I'm missing...

Hi, there is a reciprocal arrangement between UK and Ireland where you wouldn't have to present the EHIC card for access to medical care. I believe normal birth would be covered under this. Enjoy your Hen do!

Actually just looked it up, the following is not covered:

•Private medical treatment
•Treatment while on a cruise
•Mountain rescue
•Transport back to the UK

So don't go up a mountain Grin
