Hi all, looking for some reassurance/ positive stories of a happy pregnancy after a big bleed.

I lost a baby at 20 weeks at the end of November, with a traumatic labour. I’m still waiting on counselling for this. I recently found out I was pregnant again, I though it would heal some of the past but I’ve been an anxious wreck. This morning I took another pregnancy test (5 In total) which came up a strong positive straight away, but about an hour after arriving at work I had a big flood of blood and now fear the worst. A and e said there’s nothing they can do and told us to take another test in two weeks. I messaged my bereavement midwife from my previous pregnancy who has arranged a scan on Thursday.

How do I keep myself sane from now until then? Is there any hope for a positive outcome? X

So sorry you’re going through this. I’m surprised they weren’t going to scan you originally, that seems very mean, it’s awful not knowing if everything is okay. How many weeks are you?

I have a positive story to share - I had spotting throughout the first trimester, I had a few scans during this time which showed everything was progressing fine, so I didn’t think much of it. Then at 12 weeks exactly I had a huge haemorrhage whilst in a board meeting at work, lots of blood and clots, soaked right through my clothes onto the floor, very scary and embarrassing. I went to A&E and was told they couldn’t scan me but to come back the next day for them to confirm the miscarriage. I was absolutely astonished to see a perfectly healthy baby jumping around on the scan the following day. They called it a subchorionic haematoma. The rest of my pregnancy was completely uneventful and I now have an 8 month old.

Don’t lose hope. There are never any guarantees as you know, but there are lots of stories on here of women who have had big bleeds and gone on to have healthy pregnancies.

I’ll be wishing for a positive outcome for you on Thursday.

Thank you @YakkityYakYakYak, it’s so comforting knowing I’m not alone. I’m so pleased to hear of your positive story! I’ve had no more bleeding today, just a little brown blood so fingers crossed for tomorrow x

Not got any personal experience but same as PP , my best friend had a huge bleed, clots and everything, at 5 weeks, was told to expect the worst and the hospital wouldn’t scan, bleeding stopped and happened again at 7 weeks, went for a scan and all was fine there was a strong heart beat. Happened again at 11 weeks even worse, had a scan and a little one was bouncing around happy as Larry ! She’s not a dance loving 4 year old. So don’t lose hope xxx
