Help - pain

Hi all,

Yesterday I had severe pain on the left side of my lower abdomen which I assumed would be round ligament pain. Late last night this eased but I now have the most intense bladder pain. I've been up all night with it and can barely wee. None of the symptoms are like a UTI as there is no burning or cramping just what feels like the biggest amount of pressure on my bladder it wondering if it could be. The pain seems instead for baby to just be sat on bladder?

I'm totally stuck what to do . I'm 20 weeks so haven't had a need to call Midwife previously and wasn't sure I could do that on a Sunday? Massively want to avoid a n e as last time I had a ten hour wait . At 20 weeks will I be able to go
Anywhere but a n e ?

Any advice?

Can you ring Day care and get checked
The baby could be on your bladder or left ureter

Lay on your right side and see if that Bala

The maternity unit should be open on a Sunday (mine is) - can you check online? I'd call and get it checked. A&E if necessary - if you go first thing it should be a bit quicker I'd have thought? Xx

Hi OP. Our local midwife team have a mobile contact number for every week day (I only recently found out mind!)- so give them a try.

If you haven't got a local team give your PAU a call at the hospital- they won't mind! It's not worth stressing yourself out if your concerned about the pain!

I had similar pain around 20 weeks- and realised I kept pulling my groin (even with small movements like getting off the sofa... still do at 29 weeks!)

Hope all is ok for you xx

Thank you guys! I bit the bullet and called and they were lovely ! I just hate feeling like I am making a fuss.

Currently being monitored at the hospital! Baby seems fine so just seeing if they can help ease my pain!

Thank you for your responses

How you feeling?

LJC1234 · 24/02/2020 06:36

Actually not great! Baby was fine and safe in there at hospital but my pain was pretty bad. They prescribed me painkillers and I've basically been wiped out I'm either asleep or throwing up since. The pain is mildly better through

Has anyone checked it’s not a UTI? They can present differently in pregnancy so worth checking.

I think the baby is on your ureter
It happened to me and the pain was horrific

LJC1234 · 24/02/2020 16:13

Oh how long did this last for you? I’m not sure I can cope with another 18 weeks of it

I had to have a nephrostomy
Morphine or entonox were the only things that helped me

How are you today
