Cat suddenly loves me! Weird pregnancy side effects

Sequincat is usually not a cuddle lap cat, he can cute up for food but he's not physically demonstrative.
Lately he's been sitting close to me on the sofa ( unheard of) and he cuddled up to me in bed last night. Properly snuggling and purring.

It's like he can sense I'm pregnant.

Or my body temp has risen and he's taking the opportunity to use me as a hot water bottle.

Any which way, totally out of character, but very lovely.

Any other cat people experience this? Is it the same with dogs?

Oh yes when I'm pregnant Ddog always sits on me more and guards me, I think he knows I'm pregnant before I do! In fear of causing offence though I think a cat might just be using you for your extra warmth 😂

I've found the opposite with my cat! She used to love me and always chose my knee over my partner and now he's getting all the knee sits ! She's avoiding me lol. I'm only 17 weeks and don't have a bump yet so I'm not too sure why ha.

Very common, someone on the litter tray wasn't allowed to go to the toilet alone during her two pregnancies.

Mine are the opposite and seem to be biting and scratching me more! Look how guilty she looks

Yes! Mine is generally quite cuddly but gets obsessive when I’m pregnant. Her behaviour changes before I’m even ready to tear. Sits over me purring and staring while I sleep, keeps licking me, wants to sleep under my chin every night. Baby is here now and she’s gone back to normal. Was all embarrassingly over my sister at the weekend - she’s pregnant now.

My 2 dogs are poodle crosses (cavapoo and sproodle) so don't have doggy instincts, are essentially fluffy teddy sheep so I doubt they've noticed. My cat however won't leave me alone, and since pretty much conception will pounce onto my tummy as soon as I'm sprawled and will do the cat paddy paws thing (does it have a name? Like a kitty massage?) Before settling to sleep on me

The cat paddy thing is, 'making biscuits'.

My family dog (Jack Russell) is all over me since being pregnant. My parents family dogs one (English bulldog) sits on me and dotes in me since being pregnant - puts her head on my bump now. The Frenchie however doesn't know any different.

I think it's lovely and I'm enjoying every minute of being their favourite!

My mums dog never left my side and guarded me when I was pregnant - he knew before I did! I had a very sad pregnancy and I wasn’t sure he ‘knew’ I needed support?

My cats knew I was pregnant before I did! Their behaviour definitely changed and they got a lot more cuddly. Mentioned it to the midwife and she said a lot of people have said the same thing to her.

My cat has always been affectionate, but he's taken to putting his "arm" around my belly. So cute 😭

I was wondering the other day if my cat just ‘knows’!

She’s always been very cuddly and loving and slept with us at the bottom of the bed but since I’ve been pregnant she’s literally wanted to be as close to me as humanly possible.

She’ll lie right up in my armpit, on my face or curled up in my neck! She either knows or she’s trying to finish me off and suffocate me 😂

My cat is also not a lap cat. Until I fell pregnant with DD1. I didn't discover I was pregnant until I was around 10wks and had just thought the cat had lost her marbles. If I so much as sat down to put my shoes on, she would immediately appear and force her way onto my lap. As soon as DD1 was born it stopped.
As a result, the cat is the reason I discovered I was pregnant with DD2 super-early at 3.5wks. She got all weird again and was in my face and on my lap constantly for several days, so I took a test and got the faintest of lines come up. I hadn't even missed a period yet. She knew from a week after conception. I have joked about hiring her out as a furrier and cuter competitor to First Response!
The cat is 9yo and has only behaved like this during the 2 pregnancies.

My dog lays her head on my tummy all the time!! Even though he constantly kicks her she still wont move her head 😂

When I was pregnant we had three cats, they generally didn't get on well previously but while pregnant all three would try to sit on me at the same time, I couldn't sit down without some form of furry pile on ! 🐈

My cocker spaniel dog knew I was pregnant before I did. A whole week he was acting odd, getting overly close and protective. Still can't sit on the sofa without him wanting to be close to me. Currently in bed and his head is on my chest!

Since there seems to be a lot of pregnant cat lover on this thread also I thought I’d add a photo of all of ours eating in a line 😂

I love these cat photos! They're so cute! My cat has always been cuddly so havent noticed any difference!

My boyfriend's cat has never really liked me (think he's jealous ha) but we realised after we had our BFP that for the couple of weeks before, every night my boyfriend's cat had come and sat on my belly/chest every night. We thought he'd finally just come round to me but thinking now that he 'knew' before we did - it's cute. Loving all the stories 😁

My cat sat on my lap and slept on me constantly while pregnant. Also not a known lap cat. Was thoroughly outraged when I returned with a baby though!

My DMs cat is generally quite cuddly but because I go there with DS he makes himself scarce usually. However the past couple of times we have been he has come and plonked himself on my belly and curled up and gone to sleep. It's weird how he knows!

Though to add, she has 6 cats but he's one of only 2 who dare to even come in the room when DS is there 😂
