I'm around 3-4 weeks according to a test I did - I rang the doctors who said I have to self refer to the hospital so I've filled a form in online and had nothing back.

I'm sure I will do soon - but I just feel a bit odd - know I'm pregnant but haven't had any medical confirmation and not spoken or seen anyone about it.
Is this usual?

I feel like I should have at least seen a GP?

Any advice or is this just the normal thing with appointments now?

thanks

Sounds normal. It's what I had to do in our area. Felt strange finding out I was pregnant ringing the doctors and then being told I had to refer to the midwife and wait for an appointment.

I've just filled in the self-referral form online, it's my first pregnancy. But as I asked before getting pregnant and was told my asthma medication is fine in pregnancy and I've been taking folic acid for months, I m assuming the GP wouldn't do much if I rang anyway.

It's normal. I work in a surgery. No need to waste a doctor's app. You will have a midwife appointment around 8-10 weeks.

Totally normal. I felt like nobody cared about the pregnancy (from the medical profession) until id had the 12 week scan!

Also, I didnt go to the GP at all. JUst self referred and everythings led by the midwives x

sel2223 · 22/02/2020 18:34

Normal in my area too....although I got told to self refer by telephone call rather than online form.
My booking in appt was around 8 or 9 weeks and first scan wasn't until almost 14 weeks.
I'm 15+2 now and haven't seen or spoken to the GP at all.

I had a booking appointment at 10 weeks but no test done. It was a bit strange at the 12 week scan thinking will there be a baby there?! Although my sickness was pretty good confirmation!

Bookworm83 · 22/02/2020 19:38

As PPs have stated this is completely normal. I'll just add that you won't have a "medical confirmation" of your pregnancy (not until the first scan anyway), they just take your word for it.

Normal, there's advice on the NHS website about how to change your diet if you haven't found it already. There's alot of information out there, I found sticking ro what the nhs advise the least stressful option.
Good luck, I hope the weeks fly by for you.

Hey all. After months of tests, 7 negative pregnancy tests and being told i may have overian cancer i had a final scan to find a massive cyst and a baby. I have been bleeding for months. But i am more worried because of the baby now. Good thing is i am now 10 and half weeks and had two emergency scans and the baby is fine. They don't seem to no where the bleeding is coming from, so have said not to worry. I did orgianlly have a womb line bleed but that seems to have stopped. The bleeding does remind me of a period, it goes as quick as it comes tho. Just wondering if anyone else has been in a simiular situation as i seem to spend most of day worrying. Xxx
