When is the best time to go for an early scan?

This is my first pregnancy and my anxiety is through the roof. I keep imagining worst case scenarios and have decided perhaps an early scan might help put my mind at ease a bit.

I just wondered when is the best week to go for the scan? I think I read that a heartbeat can’t be detected until x amount of weeks. Has anyone had more than one early scan?

From seven weeks. Anytime before and you might not see a heartbeat which can cause unnecessary stress.

I've had early scans in two of my pregnancys, and for both them we seen the heartbeats at 7 weeks

Try and wait till 8 or 9 weeks if you can.....I went when i thought I was 7+5 (from LMP) but I have long cycles and obviously ovulated late as baby only measured 6+1.
I was lucky to hear a heartbeat that early on but it really was just a tiny blob.
I went back 2 weeks later at 8+2 and could see a lot more.

If your dates are out like mine were you could end up going too early to see anything at all which will make your anxiety even worse.

I hung on until week 8 both times, as I've read somewhere that the stats are very favourable if you've seen a heartbeat at 8 weeks. It was so lovely as you can see a proper outline, and it's also then not too long until the official dating scan!

The risk of early miscarriage drops significantly if you get to 8 weeks, thats when NHS offered me an early scan after my first miscarriage.

I would wait till 8 weeks otherwise you could get told to come back and this will stress you more.

The early pregnancy unit have booked my scan for 6weeks, I’m currently 5, as they’ve said this is the earliest they can detect the heartbeat. Due to previous MC, they are keeping an eye on me with weekly scans.
I’ve not been pregnant for 6 years, and never gone full term! This was unplanned so my anixety is also through the roof! Congratulations to you!

I went at 7 plus 6 as if I was a bit behind on my dates they said they can’t always detect a heartbeat and it can cause more anxiety . I think 7 weeks + is the safest bet. Congratulations xx
