I had the pessary in November, gave me mild contractions all night. They took it out after 24 hours and said my cervix still wasn't soft enough and I would need a balloon catheter before breaking my waters. However I refused and less than 12 hours later after a few long walks and a bath earlier in the day my waters went by themselves. I needed the drip to speed things up towards the end but gave birth via forceps the night after. Symptoms for me were period like pains and muscle spasms similar to when you have a stomach bug and can't control your bowels Grin good luck.

Hi OP!

I have had two inductions both using a pessary. DC1 was born within 24 hours of having the pessary and DC2 within 14 hours.

My symptons were intially period pain aches which ramped up contractions. I moved around a lot during the induction and early stages of labour - this included laps of the hospital and bouncing on a birthing ball. I had read somewhere that keeping mobile would help things progress quickly and it seemed to work in my case.

So - keep moving if you can and good luck!!

I had an induced labour in October. Pessary went in at 2pm and she was out by 7pm!

I was a bit stunned when they handed me a baby!

All the best of luck, hope it's a great experience for you!
