Empty sac / HCG levels 3500

Hello all,

After a mc in Oct my cycles have been really long. My LMP was 28th December (putting me at 7+5) but I really think I ovulated much later and am closer to 5 weeks. I had a positive test on 8 feb and because of previous mc went for an early private scan yesterday where an empty sac was found - worrying if I'm 7 weeks, ok if I'm 5. My hcg levels were checked and the are 3500 - which puts me around 5-6 weeks.

I have had spotting and some light bleeding - no pain.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I am being scanned by NHS on Monday, which feels far away!

Thanks!

Hiya

I’ve been sat here trying to decide whether to post this but, ultimately, the conflicting stories and false hope made my situation so much more painful!

My story: I had a miscarriage last August. I was 5 weeks pregnant and had some bleeding so I went to my EPU where they did my bloods and my HCG levels were pretty much identical to yours! However when they repeated them they only went up by 10% and that was pretty much when I was told I was going to have a non viable pregnancy. I had a scan the next day and sadly completely empty! I don’t think there was even a yolk sac but I could be misremembering.

Ultimately I was diagnosed with an anembrionic pregnancy/blighted ovum and that was that!

However it isn’t uncommon for it to be too early and there being nothing there yet and everything is fine! It’s your HCG results which will be the definitive answer!

I truly hope everything is fine for you and I have my fingers crossed xxx

@MrsRose2018 thank you for taking the time to respond. I know I may well get some positive and some negative stories - they are all relevant and very helpful, so thank you.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience, it's so tricky just waiting! I am expecting / preparing for the worst. Would be 2nd miscarriage in 5 months 😕

X

I’m so so sorry to hear that!

Just to say you should “need” to wait till Monday! If you have an emergency gyne unit or EPU they will scan you/do your bloods if you’re concerned or have signs of a MC!

It will be absolutely no consolation if
It is another MC but I also had two in
About 6/7 months and now I’m in my second trimester!

If you feel able to, please let us know how you get on!!

x

@MrsRose2018 thank you! Yes the EPU won't see me any sooner unless I'm "filling a pad an hour". So fingers crossed the spotting will stay very light at the most and I can hang on til Monday and see a miracle jelly bean in there. Thanks 😊

@MrsRose2018 I had my scan and a yolk sac can now be seen in the sac which means the pregnancy is progressing! Yay! In a week I go back and if all is well (fingers crossed) they should see a baby and a heartbeat. Another long wait! How are you?
