Spotting in pregnancy - hopeful stories?

Hi everyone, I had a surgical mc in September at 8 weeks after spotting from week 4 when I found out I was pregnant.

Pregnant again now at 5.5 weeks, no spotting for first 5 days so I was really pleased but then it started again. I've now been spotting for 6 days, occasionally bright red but mostly brown discharge.

(Bloods were good, hcg going up, but that was the same last time until I was scanned at 7 weeks with low heartbeat).

Anyone had long periods of spotting in first trimester and had positive outcomes?

Get an appt though GP for an early pregnancy scan.
I had full on blood loss at 5/6 weeks and all was fine.

I've had spotting and bleeds in all my successful pregnancies. Also had 3 losses but the bleeds with them turned into losses almost straight away

You could try the EPU got an early scan but mine won't see you if it's just spotting and non pain unless you e had 3+ miscarriages

I had spotting in my first pregnancy, none in second.
In the first my 12 week scan showed up the reason for the bleed- can't remember the name of it- but it was harmless.
It definitely does happen but push for an early scan if you're worried.

Sorry just re-read 5.5 weeks will be too early for an early scan.
But if like me you're a massive worrier you could book one in for 7/8 weeks when there will
Hopefully be a heartbeat.
Also hopefully you will see the midwife around then?
Unless the bleeding ramps up and/or is accompanied by lots of pain try not to worry too much, easier said than done I know

Yes, after three mcs.

It was a cervical ectropion and harmless to baby. Currently 36 weeks but had spotting from 5.5 weeks, 12 weeks and once at 28 weeks.

Things that made it worse were sex, orgasms, exercise and straining on the loo. I eradicated the first three and took lactulose and it eventually calmed down, but it was very scary every time.

A gestational sac is one of the first signs of pregnancy that can be seen on a transvaginal ultrasound (an abdominal ultrasound is much less accurate this early in pregnancy.) It is usually seen on ultrasound by 5 weeks gestational age but is sometimes seen as early as 3 weeks gestational age.

This is what I had when I bled.

Thank you everyone! Extremely comforting. Yes I'm a bit early to scan so EPU said to come in 2 weeks time. Hopefully will have better luck this time

I had it in two out of three of my pregnancies. Brown and red spotting around 5/6/7 weeks, it seemed to calm down after the first trimester. Mine was also ectropian cervix, I believe high levels of estrogen cause it. Good luck with your scan.

I had spotting every single day from 4.5 weeks to 8 weeks. I had a couple of early scans which showed all was ok and the drs couldn’t find a reason for it. Stopped bang on 8 weeks and I’ve fortunately had nothing since (22 weeks now). I was hugely concerned at the time though. Fingers crossed everything works out for you

In case anyone ever reads this searching for similar things! The spotting was just bruising with second baba and she's now a happy healthy 10 month old!! Good luck to all the pregnant ladies out there x
