Slow day at work today and thought I'd make a start on my list of things to buy for the baby. Got my pen out and my mind has drawn an absolute blank. What does a baby even need??? What do I need as first time mum??? Please help!!! Shock

Surprisingly, not as much as you think! Always good to stock up on nappies, wipes etc. And a co sleeper or moses basket. But see if you know anyone who would be happy to loan you one, they are expensive to buy and they aren't in them for long. Lots of vests and sleepsuits too, they don't wear much else when they are brand new. And depending how you are going to feed, breast pads and nipple cream, or bottles and formula milk. And muslin clothes. Loads of them. And blankets. They are sick over these things alot! And also, Congratulations! Flowers

Very little. Grin I know it feels overwhelming but have a google and look on the Mumsnet list of ideas for a first time parent.

My top suggestions are:
A car seat
A pram or travel system
A travel changing mat (the Skiphop one is great as it holds nappies and wipes etc)
Some vests
Some sleep suits (nothing with buttons or poppers on the back as they are so impractical)
Nappies
Maternity pads and breast pads
Bottles if you will be expressing or using formula (steriliser, breast pump, formula powder etc)
Muslins
Cellular blankets
Something for the baby to sleep in (Moses basket or next to me etc)
Sling
Hat (and depending upon the season, warm clothes)

Car seat
Pram
Somewhere for baby to sleep, the snuzpod is good and I love the sleepyhead deluxe but it isn’t necessary
Blankets
Nappies and wipes
Hats, cardigans, bodysuits and sleepsuits
Infacol is a godsend for windy babies
Lansinoh nipple cream if you’re planning on breastfeeding
