Just been so paranoid recently had my scan at 12 weeks and everything was fine, but I just keep getting scared weather the baby is okay or not. All my symptoms are fine but its just that thought how do I put my mind at ease? My next scan is 1 month away

Can you afford a private scan in the meantime?

Catlover10 · 19/02/2020 21:54

I had a private gender scan at 16 weeks, but seeing the baby is okay and kicking around at that point is also a massive reassurance Smile

I had a 16 week gender and well-being scam but I suppose you always worry a little, it will never leave you again: welcome to motherhood 🙈

I would go for a private scan but my husband doesnt like that idea and just thinks I am overthinking for no reason -_-

Just don’t tell him then haha, I had a scan around 9 weeks that I didn’t tell my boyfriend about just so I had some piece of mind!

NishaaS123 · 19/02/2020 21:59

But then I am thinking I have 3 weeks and 4 days till my next scan 😂 shall I just wait for the 3 weeks and know when I get a private scan and I think I can feel baby flutters but then not sure of its gas lol

The thing with scans is that you're only relieving your anxiety for a small amount of time and then you go back to worrying after a week. I'm currently 17 weeks and am always concerned even though I have no reason to be. Personally my way of thinking is if something does happen then there's nothing I can do to prevent that, I just have to trust that baby is ok and do my best to keep them safe and healthy.

NishaaS123 · 19/02/2020 22:06

@erised I do like that approach I am also trying my best not to think to much about it but its just hard lol but you are right should just trust everything is okay

Do you not have a 16 week appointment with the community midwife? I know it's not a scan but I'm sure they listen to the HB

Nowayorhighway · 19/02/2020 22:53

There’s usually an appointment with your midwife at 16 weeks and they listen into the heartbeat (although it’s difficult to find at this stage so can end up being more worrying). I had a private scan at 16 weeks as PP’s suggested and that helped me.

samjacklogi88 · 20/02/2020 06:54

I'm also 16 weeks I don't know if you started feeling any kind of movement yet or if your belly got bigger but that reassures me I also have a home Doppler I know not everyone recommends them but they make me feel better when I can hear the heartbeat and I can tell the difference because it faster then your own heart and the placenta I don't use it often but it helps me when I'm worrying xx especially as private scans are expensive

I’m 16 weeks and have a private gender and well being scan booked for this Saturday.
The way we looked at it is we get to find out the gender early and it it’ll help the anxious wait to know if baby is ok until the 20 week scan, as like you I am worried sick.
I think from the 12 week to the 20 week scan is a long time to wait to know if everything is ok so paying for the private scan is a small price to pay.

I paid £79 for mine in Essex, but take a look on groupon, there might be ones local to you on offer. Xx

RhymingRabbit3 · 20/02/2020 08:49

I dont think a scan would make you reassured anyway. Surely you would just start worrying again the next day. It seems like a waste of £50 to me. 3 weeks isn't long to wait. If you think you're feeling flutters it probably is the baby moving, by 20 weeks you'll definitely know!
