Do you have to lose mucus plug??

Getting disheartened now! No signs of plug going or labour starting - 40+9 today.
Can labour start without plug going? Or do I need to see signs of this first??
Being induced Friday and was praying for an early appearance :( x

Hello 👋 I just had my first baby on Saturday and was also waiting for my plug to show but it didn't until the last stages of labour, my waters didn't break either and first sign was back pain. I was only 1 day past due date but hopefully it will happen for you soon! I think it is totally different for everyone. Good luck!

I’ve never list my mucus plug. Both of my labours started with a spontaneous rupture of membranes (waters gushing). I assume the plug came out after that or later, but I have never actually seen it
