Hi all,

I need urgent opinions as my GP is fully booked out for the next few weeks! I started getting pain around my upper right hand side of the abdomen and it keeps coming and going, it’s not too painful in the way of like a contraction more like a dull ache that isn’t going away?

any idea ladies, this is my 5th pregnancy and hopefully 3rd baby...

Can you talks to your midwife?

mummyof2girls18 · 18/02/2020 07:14

@Bezalelle my midwives only take on antenatal assessment after 20 weeks (2 weeks to go) so don’t think they can do much for me now.
The pain has now extended to be under my left breast, around the rib cage, too...

I have something similar but usually occurs on my left side. Usually it's gas and goes away. Could it be that? You should still be able to get in touch with a midwife to ask a question even if you are less than 20 weeks.

Could it be gallstones? Call the GP and tell them you're pregnant, you should be a priority.

Surely the GP being fully booked is for pre-bookable appointments?

How long have you had the pain? Is it getting worse?

Your surgery should allocate some on-the-day emergency appointment. You should ring up when the surgery opens if you think the pain warrants being seen today.

@cliffdiverThanks ladies, I am in Australia so they are now closed but I will call in the morning and demand they see me if it doesn’t go away overnight...

@HeadintheClouds20 I took gas and bloating tablets about 3 hours ago and still the same just to rule it out...
@Sunshinegirl82 I had my gallbladder checked at New Years (due to crohns flare) and it was perfectly fine thankfully, don’t think it can deteriorate that quickly

I had the same thing when I was about 18 weeks pregnant! Really strange but it went away on its own after about a week 😕 I put it down to things moving around in there.

@chocolate26 thanks for sharing that, makes me feel a bit better; you could be right, could be all of my organs making a shift lol
