How did you tell your parents?

Hi everyone 😊

I got my BFP on the weekend and the doctors confirmed it this morning, I'm around 4 weeks 🥳

I'm wondering how to tell my mum and my dad & stepmother! They don't know we've been TTC for a while. I'm probably going to tell them before the 12 week scan (maybe around the 8 week mark) so looking for fun ways to tell them they'll be grandmas and a grandad!

Do any of you have any fun anecdotes/ideas that I could work off?

So far all I've got for my mum is a Mother's Day card that says "Grandma" on it, tell her it's off the cat (she calls my cat her grandson!) and writing at the bottom something along the lines of he'll have to share her from October 2020?

No idea for my dad and stepmother tho.

Any advice welcome,
Thanks for reading!

I did a similar thing with my parents. Was just in time for Christmas so gave them a card that said "From us, cats and baby arriving July 2020". Made my mum cry :)

Congratulations!!! I love the card idea!!

I got my parents and parents-in-law a Christmas Grandma and Grandad card. I said ‘I can’t wait to meet you’ and signed it from the baby with the due date. They loved it.

I would absolutely do the card thing for Mother’s Day - what a special present to your mum ❤️

Thank you both SmileSmile

The card is such a great idea! I hope the cat won't be jealous haha

We also gave a card to both parents and IL’s! We got a cute congratulations one and on the inside wrote ‘Only the best parents get promoted to grandparents! Baby Surname due August 2020!’ and they were all over the moonGrin We gave them at 8.5 weeks xx

Congratulations!!!
My mum knew at 8 weeks because I was with her when drs confirmed it (I'd had miscarriages and chem pregnancies in the year leading so wanted to wait it out for a 2nd missed bleed). She called my dad so I could tell him, as she didn't want to know before him 🙄 dh and I had dinner plans with them the next day 😂

Told inlaws that night, dh told his mum and then when they came downstairs he told his dad he needed to practice his "grandad stories"

Mine wasn’t quite so cute lol I asked my mum if she could pick me up a pregnancy test from the shop because I was over a week late and still hadn’t come on. Grin

Congrats! Mine wasn’t so exciting lol. I took a pregnancy test and sent the results to my mum for her to tell me if she could see a line too. Smile

I was hoping to do a card for everyone off Moonpig or something and put scan pictures in, if I can wait long enough!

First time we had a gift for them to open together. One was baby scan in a photo frame, the other was a book called guide to being a grandparent.

Second time we put a t-shirt on DD that said I'm going to be a big sister. She parades in front of her granddad who still failed to notice for about 10 minutes!!!!!
