About to lose job

So, me and my husband both work for the same small business and recently found out that we might both be losing our jobs. I'm 36 weeks pregnant and was planning to start maternity leave soon. What do we do? We dont have the spare money to just get on with job hunting and pay all Bill's until husband finds a job. Obviously no one is going to give me a job at this point in pregnancy

You will still be entitled to maternity pay. I'd prioritise husband finding a job for now and you can look when you've recovered from childbirth and get into the swing of things. Will the employer be paying redundancy?

What sortve job is it? As in are there many jobs in your industry? Ring around all relevant companies to get cvs to them asap.

Also in the meantime..once you've recieved your final pay (or as yours will continue as maternity, your husbands final pay) apply for universal credit. In the short term it will pay some money to help. Its not heaps but in an average household it will at least get your rent and food.

When I was probably about the same stage of pregnancy as you my oh was working self employed as a carpenter and the contractor he was working for took 3 months to pay so we ended up in food banks and behind on bills....it was so so stressful. I know how you must be feeling.

@Wifeofbikerviking thanks for the advice, it's just so overwhelming and cant think logical at the time. Hopefully we will get some answers today and go from there. I dont think they will pay redundancy to be honest, it's just a waiting game at the moment I think.
