Just getting myself a bit anxious and worried, I'm due to have an elective csection tomorrow, but the past couple days I've had a horrible sinus/sore throat cold or virus or something and feel awful. I'm now worried about whether this will affect my baby! I'm planning on breastfeeding so I know she will get my antibodies, does that mean she won't get it? And what about my DH and DS, they don't seem to have been affected as badly as me, I guess because my immune system is weakened, but will they infect her if they're ill? Sorry if this is a silly question, just getting myself all anxious about everything tomorrow! Confused

Oh poor you!! That’s just typical timing isn’t it?

I don’t have any constructive advice just wanted to offer my sympathies. I’m sure the hospital will be able to help in regard to you not passing it to your baby etc, if you’ve had it a couple of days hopefully you will be getting over the worst of it Flowers

I don't know the answer, but my mum was induced 3 weeks early with me because she had a nasty cold/flu. They obviously thought better out than in for the baby.

We all had horrendous colds just after Christmas (I'm still snotty 😭) but my newborn didn't get anything worse one lump of snot that flew out of his nose. I think generally they don't get colds too badly.

I gave birth towards the end of a really grim chest infection! I coughed so hard my waters broke (well, I think so, nobody was sure but they induced me anyway). My son was fine and yes, breastfeeding is incredible protection. As ever, let someone know your concerns, but I think you'll forget about being sick very soon Smile

I had a chest infection when giving birth to my first, I literally coughed them out!

Then had a ward to myself for a couple of days!

Baby was fine.
